I think the best bet is to use an '06+ grille and trim it like emelianenkov did, I don't think the smaller '03-05 grille looks as good with the mod. It's also A TON more work to get the '03 right.

I agree. Here is how I did mine - it sucked and i had to break the spot welds on the grille subframe.

i found the 06+ grille on amazon for a song. I made the bracket from some 1/4" aluminum and there's more trimming needed on the bottom of the sub frame.

well I didn't go full shitake, but I did get the new grill mounted up. I didn't have to trim much to get it to fit, just a little plastic off of the bottom corners. I did have to remove the lower eyelid pieces off.

I guess I will trim it all up and epoxy in the inset after my DV trip this weekend.

Mike I've told you before, I'll tell you again.....I really dig your 4runner. In fact, I'm using what you've done as inspiration for mine. Mine isn't 4 wheel drive and I have the V8 but stance wise, that's how I want mine to look. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Morris, It is great It is about 2x the range of the high beams. It is a spot, flood combo (60/40) that i picked up from a place called exploration outfitters in Durant, OK.

If you get a chance, could you measure the actual length of the light bar? I know it is listed as a 40" but they aren't always those lengths as they are listed.

Never mind I found it. It is 39 1/2"

Nice video Mike. Gave me flashbacks of our last DV run. Pics don't usually accurately portray how steep the drop offs are or how narrow the Lippincott trail is but there were some parts of the video that did a pretty good job. Looks like another great DV trip!
