Mikey's Build Thread...

If its a detachable faceplate, you can mount it under the folding lid in the center stack (under where the AUX and cigarette lighter port is). I was thinking about mounting my CB in the same place but didn't realize how shallow that area was. A faceplate should fit fine if its DIN sized or smaller.

Mike nice truck and build. Did you ever had problem with 4x4 shifter. I used to have Xterra and it would always come out of 4x4 back in 2x4.

Step 1

Ok so I did not get everything done like I was hoping too. I decided to go hang out with my parents so that cut my time down. But I did get a good start, just need to get the antenna mounted and it all wired. Should be able to get that done tomorrow.

So i gave the flexible arm a try and actually like how it worked out. I also mounted the external speaker along the side of the tunnel. Both are out of the way of the passenger's legs and the faceplate is within easy reach of the driver. Plus I can easily remove the faceplate and store it out of sight.

I then mounted the brain on my storage drawers and behind the rear seats. It is out of sight but still easily access if needed. Wiring should be a breeze with it in the middle of the truck.

Now a question for you wiring gurus. The three pong trailer harness plug, which one is for the tail lights? I want to tap into this harness for the power to the LED license plate light that I will be putting on. Or should I tap into the other harness for trailers? But which wire to tap into?

I find ham goes well mounted between two slices of sourdough, deli mus****, tomatoes, lettuce, extra sharp cheddar, and some onion. :D

Looks good Mikey! :D

Got a little bored at home and decided I did not want to zip tie the extension cord to the mount. So instead I took the mount appart and ran the wire inside of the cover. Trying to clean up the look as much as possible.

Everything looks to be working just fine.

Only thing I have left to install is the stupid license plate light.

Can't wait to use this thing and be able to hear people on the trails!

Does anyone know what happens when you have been sitting at home sick with the shingles for the past week?

No guesses?

Well I kept going on Metal Tech's website and looking at their rear links. And well we can say I ordered them because I was bored.

Crazy how I get my pile of parts to install down to nothing just to order more.

Rack and links on order and skids could possibly be soon.

Ok, got my final Ham setup in and I am happy. Took three different speakers. 1st one just plain did not work with my radio, 2nd was well to friggin HUGE to fit anywhere, and the third is well just right.

Speaker is about 2.5x2.5 and puts out plenty of volume.

So now I have the Yaesu MLS-100 and Yaesu MLS-200M sitting in the garage if anyone is looking for one and you are local send me a PM. I will make you a great deal.

Got all the correct links now, ready to install. And yes the stickers on the lower links are upside down. Oh well, got my own special links. LOL

Install will be on Saturday and should hopefully be straight forward with the assistance of a fellow 120 member.

Just saw you in San Ramon. Aren't you supposed to be installing your rear links? LOL

Was on my way down to do so.....POW....sorry for the crappy cell phone pictures.

Must say it was a little bit tougher then expected. The end with the bushing on the upper links were a PAIN IN THE REAR to get lined up. Nut once that was done the uppers were smooth sailing. The lowers were straight forward. Helped a lot that the kind sir that helped me had just installed his not to long ago. Big thanks again to Dave.....owe ya!
