Looking at a 2002 SR5 4Runner with about 93,000 miles. If I were to buy it I want it to last a long time.

How many more miles should I expect?
How many more years?

Everything is in excellent condition.

Lastly, what is the "routine maintenance" that I should be doing on the car? Anyone have a detailed list of each thing I should do and how often?

Thanks!

The 3.4 liter is a good motor. People see 250k+ miles. Years ? It just depends on how much you drive I guess. If you keep up the maintnence[water pump, timing belt, oil change] it should last an extremely long time. You will love it just like everyone else.

I would say 100,000 more miles at least if you do regular maintance.

Change the oil regulary and change the timing belt (every 80,000-100,000 miles) and you should be good to go.

depends how it was kept

The timing belt should have been done at 90K miles and the water pump is typically done at same time.

Take a look at this forum and YotaTech-many 3rd gen Runners (96-02) with well over 200K miles or kilometers.

See how well this one was taken care of-record the VIN# and ask a Yota dealer to pull it up and see if the maintenance has been kept up. Alternately-review the previous owners records of oil changes and tranny fluid changes and so on...

I routinely meet fellow Runner owners that can not justify buying a "new one"-and they are still driving GEN 1s-84-89 !!

Properly maintained-and trucks in general cost a bit more than a car to do so-your new to you Runner could last your lifetime.

Make us proud.
