I'm pulling the trigger on my build this weekend. I live on the Front Range in Colorado and after 15 years of MTB, I'm taking my back country to the next step with my 4Runner.
I want my build to match my current lifestyle, and as such I'm going to build this to be a daily driver, but with the chops to get me and my wife deep into the Front Range and Southern Rockies for multi-day excursions, and navigate up to intermediate trails in places like Moab. We make about 10 trips out a year, but then the Runner reverts to my commuter the rest of the time.
Here are my thoughts on the initial build and in this order.
Low Lift OME Suspension Kit Kit Includes:
2 x OME883 Front Coil Springs
2 x 90021 OME Front Struts
2 x 60004 OME Rear Shocks
2 x OME895E Rear Coil Springs
Immediately followed by:
Wrangler Duratrac 265/70R17
or
BFG A/T KO2 265/70R17
A few weeks later(for budgeting):
Sliders (Not sure on manufacture or bolt on vs weld)
After that it will be into the wild to discover if there are other things that seem to be must haves. I like the idea of bumpers, but they would only be considered if I end up wanting to do trails that require that amount approach and departure angle. And I'd consider armor if my factory stuff doesn't seem to be holding up.
What do you think? I would love to know if I'm making any real mistakes here, or of there are better options for this build.
Thanks!
