Hey guys,
Just bought my first 3rd gen. A 97 Limited Edition with auto, 4wd, rear locker, the works. 272xxx Km's.
I picked up the truck about 3 weeks ago, and it's been rainy ever since, but this last week has been ridiculous heat(35c+) so I've started to drive with the windows down more. During this time I've been noticing a squeal outside of the vehicle only when the truck is under, well, hard-ish acceleration. Think merging into highways speeds. Not foot to the floor, but mid throttle I would guess. I only hear the squeal start at 2900-3000+ RPM. Under moderate acceleration(like I normally do) it shifts at about 2500 RPM and I never hear the sound.
I drive daily without the "ECT Power" switch on. I've been able to reproduce this sound reliably during hard acceleration.
Just curious if anyone has any ideas where to point a mechanic, or any tips to help alleviate this "issue". If it even is an issue.
The squeal starts high pitched and increases in frequency as the RPMS get higher, only stopping once the tranny has shifted into a higher gear.
I appreciate any input or ideas. This truck is my new baby and I just want to take care of her. I have plans, but first and foremost is maintenance and making sure everything is up to snuff!
Thanks!
