Mileage, how major of a factor when looking to buy

Hi guys

I have a follow up question on another post I made. I have decided to try and look for 4Runner in the 2001-2002 range as my first choice, but dropping back to 97 if I find a great deal.
When looking in these years there is a lot that have mileage around 150-200,000 miles,
Of course lower the better but at what mileage would you not consider buying unless it was a great, great deal. Would mileage around 150-200,000 not be a major deciding factor if the truck was in good shape or would it really sway you? What would I check as far as maintenance for these trucks to make sure certain things were done that would extend the mileage, Timing belt etc. Just looking for reference, used to be years ago 100,000 and the vehicle was done, at least as far as American cars were concerned.

I bought mine a year ago, 99 with 190k. It has 210 on it now and all I have done is routine oil change and new tires. It all depends on how it has been taken care of. You can run a carfax or just look at the interior, exterior to get a good grasp on how an owner takes care of the rig. Mine drove like a new one in the test drive and everything functioned correctly on it. Seats and interior was nice, paint clean and shiny with a few bumps and bruises.
