Miles and Problems

I was just curious how well 4runners last. Please comment/vote! Feel free to comment on the use of your vehicle as well like heavy bashing off-road or reading it a bedtime story every night.

64k - all highway/city. Two cracked headers (once each side), and a jammed CD player. Everything else is regular maintenance.

Which of my 4Runners?

1990 (2nd gen) - Sold to a friend after 205,000 miles. NO problems besides normal wear and tear and a little body rust. Toyota replaced the headgasket (recall) at 97,000 miles in ~1995. No charge. Last I heard he had over 350,000 miles on it.

2000 (3rd gen) - Sold after 152,000 miles (wanted a 4th gen!) to a coworker. NO problems.

2008 (4th gen) - I have only 14,000 miles on it after 9 months. I alternate driving it with a Mustang. Other than a cracked windshield, NO problems.

It's been that way with my OTHER 3 Toyotas.

BTW, all 3 4Runners were routinely used as tow vehicles for boats and a camper.

My LED lights are going a little dark in the temp readout display so those are getting replaced today at a clip of $220 via dealership.

My AC is stinky sometimes on start as well so they're spraying some Frigi-Fresh down there.

Otherwise, truck's been marvelous.

P.S. They gave me a new Highlander Hybrid loaner - drives like crap compared to my 6 year old V8 Limited 4x4. Slightly roomier inside, very bulbous. Super light steering. Nicer interior console with Lexus-like buttons.

I've had my 96 SR5 v6 for 6 years. 262000kms (~163,000miles), bought with 164000kms (100,000miles) fixed a heater box last year, axle seal few years back, and a stalling problem because of my K&N filter (threw out the filter, fixed the problem) and starter contacts are going on me. The rest has been routine maintenance. Crazy reliable. Makes me sad I'm selling her. Only started wheelng her the last year so overall a grocery-getter type life, still holds up to trails just fine.

04 SE v8, 87000kms (54000miles) and owned 1 year. Not one hitch. New grocery getter so doesn't even see dirt, let alone wheeling..... yet.

2006, coming up on 30k.

So far the only big thing that's needed doing is a replacement brake booster assembly.

I'm hoping the cat. converters are a bit less freaky on the 4th gen...my 3rd gen needed a new one (albeit when it had a good more miles on it) and man that was expensive.

I have 05 SR5 And 4 wheel the beans out it , I have 50,000 miles and Still on stock battery, Stock brake pads Etc .. Just normal maint. Never even had a bulb go out or anything.

03' with 131,000. Not a SINGLE problem. Routine maintenance only. Thought about selling it and getting something new, but I am going to shoot for 200k.

Hope I am not jinxing myself by posting on this thread.
