Mirror Replacement

You might be able to do just that. Remove the screws in the panel, pop that little triangle piece off, then just pop the front part of the door panel off if I remember correctly. At worst you'll have to take it just a little further and unplug the window switches, and disconnect the lock & door handle cables, etc.

So was the whole housing damaged, or just the glass part? That housing isn't cheap.

Broken Mirror

I managed to completely destroy my driver's side mirror after backing into a random pole in the middle of a parking lot that happened to serve no purpose at all. I need a whole new mirror, housing and all.
Do y'all know where I can get a factory mirror? I'd prefer to order it as soon as possible. If y'all can give me some websites to check, it would be greatly appreciated.
My truck is a Black 2008 SR5 V6

Go-part.com

I had this same problem...except mine was a tree trunk falling off the top instead of a Kayak. I found the whole mirror assembly at Go-part.com for $65.** plus shipping. Not a bad price in my opinion, but I think it only comes in black?

I ended up calling a Toyota dealer and asking for the OEM number. They looked it up based off of my VIN and sure enough its the same thing as that mirror on go-parts.com. I ordered it tonight and will be putting it on sometime next week.

You should go back to that pole with a sledge hammer and do the world a favor and take that shit out. Just a thought, but might be kind of fun.

Oh I'd love too.... That same night, a girl in a little yellow VW bug hit that same random pole trying to avoid backing into another car.... 2 cars in one night and no telling how many other people have hit it over the years. Damn pole.... Cost me $75 for a new mirror including shipping!

Amen to that! That might be my project this weekend.... Sadly, a sledge hammer won't do too much cause the pole is like a 4' tall telephone pole.... Maybe a little gas and a match... :lmao:

<<<<, Thanks for those write up PDFs. They will definitely come in handy when I finally get the mirror in... It took go-part.com 5 days to process my order. I ordered it the 19th of November, it shipped the 24th of November and is supposed to get here on December 3rd.... I guess saving $60+ dollars is worth the wait. :D

mirror not painted!

I just got my mirror in yesterday. It is unpainted , but luckily for me I still has my old mirror and the bracket was the only thing that was broken. So I have a plastic unpainted bracket but you can't tell with the painted mirror!

How long did it take you to get yours in? What you got was the SR5 mirror. I'm guessing you have the Sport or Limited? Because they both have color-keyed mirrors, while the SR5 has black plastic ones. How did the install go?

Install Went well!

The install for me was a piece of cake.

I took the door off as specified in the instructions when replacing the front door speakers and the rest was really cut and dry. Everything else was just unscrewing the three bolts that connected it to the car and then plugging in the wire. If you are the slightest bit of a handy man, you will have no problem.

I am just surprised how quickly I did the install(25-30 minutes) when my STEALERSHIP wanted 1 hour and 45 minutes of labor for the install. Not to mention ~175-180(?) for the price of the mirror! Crazy! Love doing my own work!

I tried to attach a file by Crutchfield i found on the boards that explains a quick process of removing the door panels, but it was too big. Send me your email if you like and I will email it to you if you want

ray,

That sucks. Sorry to hear that, I had to replace my mirror assembly as well, because I forgot to fold my mirror one day when I parked & a bicyclist hit it.

You indeed neet to remove the triangle near the edge of the window, the plastic piece behind the door handle & the arm rest before you can take the panel off.

I replaced my assembly w/ the one off the Sport. Because I wanted a color keyed one. By accident the other day, I found out that it also heats up.

So the driver side is Silver & my Passanger side is still original.
