Misfire with no check engine light?

Is that possible?

Seems like the only logical explanation... I replaced my plugs (100k) and now i'm getting an intermittent stumble at idle, and the car struggles and kinda bumps and jerks getting up to speed. But I don't have a check engine light on...

Timing belt changed recently? Does the CEL/MIL even work? Lol had to ask...it should come on for 3 seconds then turn off when you start the car.

Have you run the fuel tank damn near empty and then filled up with premium at a different station than normal?


Also what are your driving habits? Grandma-ish or do you let that baby breath once in a while?

How severe is this misfire? When it stumbles does the engine sound like its going to stall or is it just a sort of light stumble at idle? When you say you feel it jerking and bumping when getting to speed is it a light feeling from a stop, do you get a similar feeling when stopping?

Which cylinder is #2?

First redo your work on the plug on that cylinder. Make sure the coil is inserted and plugged in correctly. May be an issue with the connector.
#2 is front driver's side (LH Bank)

Will do, which is #2? I'll put some dialectic grease in there too to see if that can help it.

Well, I would recommend using anti-seize, I always put them on since thats what the instruction tells me to do. op2:

If you do use anti-seize, only a very small dab and not too close to the tip. According to NGK, the only plugs that need it are the ones with no nickle coating (they have a black, bare metal body). I've seen misfires from using too much anti-seize and/or getting it on the tip of the plug.

I forgot to add, you may try swapping a coil from another cylinder to see if the misfire follows. Same goes for the injector.

Go easy with do electric grease, it's designed to impede current flow. Also check plug gasp, it's rate but not all plus are properly gapped from the factory to consumer.
