Missing Front Shock Nuts

I think the name says it all. I am about to assemble my front shocks but I can't find the nuts that go on top of the shock! Is there anything special about them or can I just pick some up from the local hardware store?

nothing too fancy just put a dab of thread lock on it

The ones that SHOULD have come with the shocks were probably either a crimped type lock-nut or a Nyloc nut. If you cant find either then as Elton said, thread lock on them, I would use red.

I would try to get grade 5 or 8 nuts, metric would be class 8.8 or 10.9

Thanks guys! Picked up some thread lock (blue, hope that works), grade 8 nuts and some lock washers. Hopefully this will prevent them from blowing up into my face. If not I will be posting under the name The Man Without a Face and tribute all of the posts to Mel Gibson.
