missing hose hookup

94/4runner 3.0. Passenger side coming out of firewall. I don't see the other side where this hose should be connected to

That's the drain for the ac evaporator. Its not supposed to do anything else. Maybe it should be turned down if anything to drain easier. (Just looks like it is pointing to the side somewhat from the pic)

Under the intake mainfold, on the firewall side of the passenger side fuel rail is a little pressure regulator bolted to the end, it is prone to leaking, and it drips right over the exhaust manifold. When the leak is slow the heat evaporates the gas and you will have a heavy gas smell in the cab now and then. As the unit gets worse, it will drip onto the manifold and cause an engine fire. If you have small hands you can reach back and touch it to see if its wet, if not you will need to remove the intake manifold to take a look.

Its called the "fuel pulsation damper", and there are several how to write ups about location and replacement. Might be worth looking into.

If you smell gas through the vents, near the charcoal canister, or when you turn te car off and walk by the hood but cannot locate a leak for the life of you - its a good chance.
