Mississippi Hill Country Loop - TAT Run on 2/20/2016

I am planning a run through the Mississippi Hill Country Loop from Batesville, MS to Scoby, MS on Saturday February 20th. It will probably just be a Saturday run.

I started this thread as a planning thread for anyone else that would like to join. The trail is about one hour south from Memphis, TN and two hours north from Jackson, MS. The portion of the trail I plan on tackling is ~100 miles. I have not run this trail yet.

I've looked at the route on Google Earth and it appears to be about about 80% trail, 20% pavement. Some of the reviews I have read on the route seem to indicate that only about 1-5% of the trail sections are very technical.

If we get a big enough group, I'd like to test out some recovery methods and equipment. I've got the maps for the route/

If that date works for you, speak up here and we an begin coordinating and exchanging meetup info.

There is a McDonald's located at 302 MS-6 in Batesville, MS that would be a good meeting/start point. It is right near the trail start, though there is about ten miles of pavement from there before we hit dirt.

Well, my suspension will be stock as well but I'll have a ton of recovery equipment with me so it should be a pretty easy ride. Most of the route looks pretty easy.

It looks like the most difficult section was where a bridge was out and a river crossing was required. That bridge appears to be fixed.

Wished I had found this sooner. How many people went on the trip? Did you use the gps files from the TAT website?

Nobody signed up so I did it solo. I've got trail now documented from Corinth, MS through Arkansas. Mostly TAT but some others as well. I've been working on some around Holly Springs, MS as well. I did a video of those.

What Vehicle is needed

I am wanting to do this trail but the only thing I have available is a Chevy Tahoe. It is a 4x4 vehicle. Can you please tell me if it will be able to do this trail? I am new to this and hope to be able to do the Trans American Trail in the next year or so.
