I bought my 98 sr5 in July. I have a real job now, and wanted a little project vehicle. The maintenance records are perfect, every maintenance done and stamped in the book. I got a great deal on it, but it needs some work done.
Im a big fan of mighty car mods and dirt every day. If you're not familiar you should be!
It does have some rust. I see a lot of users in here that have rust free California vehicles, but that's not what I'm working with, and I would appreciate it if not every post was about the rust situation.
Work to do:
New headlights - done
Led interior lights - done
Tundra brake swap - done
Wipers, battery - done
New ball joints - done
New tie rod ends - done
Brake loose camber bolts - done
Replace stereo - done
Do before winter:
Alignment - done
Rotate, balance tires - done
Plasti dip wheels
Por 15
Replace rear diff fluid
The frame has a lot of surface rust, but has a patch back by the rear passenger control arm. There's a welded plate on the inside of the frame, but the outside has been decaying.
Here's the bad side
I've talked to some welders that can fix it. It's way more solid than the pictures look. I'm not really worried about it right now. It'll be my project for spring.
Replacing tie rod
Changing ball joint. I was hoping to get both done, but I bent the threaded part of the tie rod and couldn't get the castle nut back on. Guess I'll be swapping both tie rod ends.
