mixing conventional and synthetic trans fluid

I'm going to replace my transmission filter soon, and I would really prefer to go the Valvoline Max Life full synthetic fluid, but I'm pretty sure my 4runner has regular conventional (I just bought it recently). I've read many things about it being okay to mix the two and many saying not to. I'm not going to do a full flush, I'm just changing the filter. I just want a straight up yes or no if it's okay to mix the two :smash:

Yes. Pour it in and forget it.

Should be fine... I've done it on several vehicles without fail.

You could also drain and fill, drive around for a couple days and then repeat... after the second drain and fill, most of the dino fluid would be gone.

Tranny fluid - no problem.

However ...

Mixing synthetic and regular brake fluid - BAD! For the brakes use only OEM recommended fluid.

Nope no changing of the filter. Just like an oil change(minus the filter); drain the trans pan then fill it up to correct level. Easy peezy

Just an FYI; All brake fluid is synthetic.

Where there are differences, is in the fluid base stock.

DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are polyglycol based.

DOT 5 is silicone based, and does not mix with the polyglycol based fluids.
