Nice looking truck!
Curious now that it's been a year since you've had your 4Runner floor mats - how do you like them?
I've always gone with WeatherTech and loved them, but decided this past fall to get the 4Runner ones. Not really digging how they hold up.

I like oem. They look new still. Last a hell of a lot longer than my carpeted ones that's for sure lol. And they are cheap I think like 80 bucks.

If I was in heavy snow and had family getting in and out all day long. maybe the weather techs out perform.

Strange order I am going in with this rig...

the storage in the back is less than ideal with these vehicles because of the solid rear axle. So, I decided on making some custom boxes with the old man. I almost scrapped the idea since I am a stickler for clean OEM plus looking vehicles. But my dad was pretty pumped. So why not..

I'm going to do my best to make this custom storage box look as seamless as possible. We are one day down. But I'll post some of the progress.

Stay tuned for the finish product.

That looks great! Where did you buy the carpet? Is it an indoor/outdoor carpet and how did you attach it to the panels?

Indoor out door carpet at Home Depot. 20 bucks for 8x6 rug I think. Wanted tweed.. it is close and couldn't beat the price.

I used spray glue on the backs and staple gun... probably should of used more glue, but the staple gun was the MVP.

Finished product. all in 220 dollars.. Good project with my dad.. If I was to do it again.. I would probably use more spray glue on the carpet.. idk if it would of made a difference since we pulled the carpet really hard when we stapled it, it sits flat everywhere so idk, just in retrospect... and I think I would of preferred using a different black paint.. Love the flat look, hoping it holds up.. But if not I'll repaint the drawers with oil or a bedliner type spray.. I might also add magnets to the drawers, its tough to get the drawers to stop moving when you are stopping and going in traffic..

All in all, I'm happy with the results.. It makes the back storage infinitely better for me...

Took off my skid plates. Sanded them down. Sprayed a coat of VHT rust converter on them. (Wasn't that bad, just preventive in some spots). Then Sprayed them black. Finally, I put a coat of Bedliner spray on top.. came out pretty solid I think.

*I used Bedliner spray when I did my roof rack and side steps. It was a pain in the ass to get good coverage. So IMO it is a much better top coat on top of a black base coat..

Love this. I'll give you my address so you can build me a set. I'm helping you here to bond with your dad more. And to experience the changes of adding more glue.

I will be replacing the latches with Bolt locks on the side. Starting to wear the carpet pivoting them open and closed..

When you find a good set of magnets let me know. I've yet to find any that really help with stopping my drawers from sliding open

Did you respray underbody? Looks so clean! If so, what did you use? Thanks!

VHT chassis and roll bar black spray paint. It had really no rust being a Florida vehicle.. but Just some welds that had minimal surface rust... but I know it's one of the weak spots on these trucks. Wanted to get ahead of it. Since I've purchased the truck I've sprayed probably 4-5 cans on the frame..

Trial by error. This was my final solution. No magnets worked. My little latch system was starting to wear the carpet. These latches seem to do the job. I used nuts and bolts to hold it to the wood.. seems sturdy.
