mizak82 build thread

So. My driver side wheel bearing went bad. Ordered one through a vendor on this website. Took 20 days to receive it. The product however was well done. So I’m only partially annoyed.

I swap it out the other day. Had trouble getting my front caliper and rotor off. Anyways I did the swap and put it back together. Get on the road. Steers hard to passenger side when braking.

Caliper was seized. Second time I’ve replaced it. Ended up doing new Front rotors. Toyota oem pads w new shims. And a new reman caliper.

And per usual my ocd kicked in and I did some painting. Didn’t want my rotors rusting immediately so I threw some high heat on them. And I sprayed the caliper the night before. Also Brillo padded the spacers.

Did you paint the area that the pad would grip? Looks like you painted the rotor face. Not thinking that's a good idea. I guess it would burn off after the bedding procedure but would that be like panting your brake pads?
Just a thought.

ps. that things WAY too clean :)

I sprayed them before install and wiped down where the pads hit. Least the vast majority of it. Some come coated. But these didn’t.

I’ve painted the hub part of rotors on every car I’ve ever owned. I hate seeing them rusted. Especially if you get aftermarket wheels. Looks incomplete to me.

What is the ride like compared to stock with that new spring/shock combo? I can’t decide between a bilstein setup or an OME

I heard good things about T1/T12 for ride quality and matching the Bisteins valving. I decided to go Bilsteins, T12 in rear, and OME 884 in front cause I was told the 884’s are comfortable as well

I’m happy with it. Little stiffer than stock I’d say.

Bite the bullet and purchased SPC upper control arms. Since lifting the truck. I just can’t seem to get enough caster.

Went with these over uniballs for multiple reasons. That I’m sure the forum understands. Needed more adjustability even though uni’s are cooler.

Goes in Sunday.

Pretty straight forward install.

Going in for alignment tomorrow. Then I can see how big of a difference. But I added 3 degrees of caster. So I should be at positive 4.2 now.

Those SPC UCA's look to be a new design with greasable upper ball joints?

I called toytec. Guy on the phone said he runs them. Beats on them pretty hard. Off roads a lot in Colorado. And spoke very highly of them.

I read reviews of them. And saw the complaints. But it seems they addressed those issues.

To me, they seemed to be extremely adjustable. And with the greasable ball joints. They should of fixed their Achilles heel.

I can’t give an honest review yet. But I will once I use them a bit.

I like them too.
Yours are a different 'cast' looking design, I have never seen them before.
The older ones are tubes.

Haven’t been on in a while. Got a new project I’ve been focusing on the last couple months.

Figured I needed something to tow with the 4runner.

been a while fellas..

i have some noise from the front suspension, mostly in the parking lot.. backing up while turning the wheel.. i get some popping and clunking.. only thing not new is the lower control arms, tie rods, and the cv joints.. i have to get the figured out being that it really effects my experience with the truck..

i also have some paint starting to fade on the front of the hood. i purchased some 3M vinyl wrap to do a strip on the front this weekend.. I will post picture..

almost bought a first gen DCSB Tacoma the other day to pair with the 4runner.. so I might have a new build in my future.

So I cut the resonator off my exhaust.. very marginal difference in sound.. will probably get a trd tip and exit it behind the wheel on the side eventually..

bought new headlights.. 140 bucks.. new hyper blue ZXE low beams to go with them..

Battery that came with the truck started getting weak so I replaced that too.

wrapping a color bra on the front of the hood was a failure.. had two shots at it and ruined both.. ordered some more.. putting it on dry is tough compared to wet.. i did spray the grille again with plastidip. chips easy i think, and kind of looks like shit pretty quick with the bugs staining it.. but too late to go back to the chrome..

When's the last time you replaced your front sway bar bushings?
