Moab for beginners?

you mention bilsteins--are these giving you extra lift up front? if so, you can do fins n things--there are a couple of places where approach angles will probably damage stock height front bumpers, but overall, very doable trail

chicken corners is awesome for a good taste of moab--carry plenty of water, and allow lots of time, it's scenic and a bit remote...and if you elect to cross the corner, an amazing view, just be mindful of the impact your footprints will leave on the desert crust

if you are lifted with the suspension, baby lion's back is a lot of fun as well if you want to get a feel for the slick rock (which is not slick at all)...approach angle will help

I'll be out there the week of the 18th in the Maze district in Canyonlands for a 5 day backpacking trek. Got a '03 with an Icon stage 2 lift. Not sure if I have to leave it at North Point Trailhead and trek in, or if I can take it as far as Maze Overlook and start my trip from there, I still gotta check with Hans Flat Station to find out. Seems like a fair number of us will be out in that area this month though

My wife and I just got back from a RMNP/Moab/Ouray/Colorado Springs trip. We are beginners in our new 4runner. It is stock except for a used TRD Pro suspension I just had installed and we removed the running boards. We did many trails over the last 2 weeks and our favorite easy ones in Moab were Gemini Bridges and Potash/Shafer.

Gemini Bridges started just outside Moab. It has a nice interesting rocky climb on a shelf road to start. We thought we may hit but my wife got out to confirm clearance was fine. Beyond that it was an easy and very scenic 1.5 hours.

Potash Road/Shafer switchback started just outside Moab and was a really fun couple hours with a breathtaking climb near the end to the top of Canyonlands NP Island in the Sky. This is where they used to bring the livestock up and down way back. We then had lunch on on the rim edge at Dead Horse State Park. Colorado locations were great but Moab was unbelievable and couldn't stop taking pics and vids. Wanted to do Chicken Corners but ran out of time.

We did rent a TRex in Moab and did a sunset tour of Hell's Revenge. Holy crap those things are incredible off road on the slick rock.

Another worthwhile site. Head out a few miles on Kane Creek. The "Birthing stone" is a must see. Part of the actual Kane Creek trail is doable, if careful in a stock rig. But much of it requires a built Jeep. Sorry guys, but nothing with IFS will tackle that hill. It's just gotten too over used. Even built live axle rigs, with lockers at both ends,tall tires, LOTS of suspension travel, sometimes need a winch on that one these days. It's become a pretty serious rock crawler trail. But on to Chicken corners would be a good ride.

Jeep banged a few stock grand cherokee trailhawks up kanes creek. They took some good body damage lol
