Moab in March

MOAB WOOOHOOO

So I feel like this needs no explanation as to what it is. Its a Moab trip...in March. Now that we are all on the same page, we can use this as a place to discuss everything (trails, meetup points, camping, whatever).

The only thing thats fixed as of now is the dates (roughly). FR4R and I first planned this trip for our spring break so thats when it has to be for us. That doesn't mean the rest of you cant stay longer or go earlier but thats when we will be there. The dates are March 15-23. This is a saturday to sunday range just to give everyone the big picture.

So far the honored invitees are
Me, FR4R, Jorgan, EatonKyleH, NateMob, BigFishAllDay, TMAC110

obviously this is like 4 months in advance so the fine details don't have to get worked out yet but we were making a mess out of Chris' build thread haha.

Don't be this guy

WooHoo! What are the ages of everyone currently on the invite list? Any under-21ers? Myself, I'll be 28 by then.

March can get a bit chilly, I was there in April this year with my trailer and it got below freezing at night. Just an FYI if you'll be camping.

So is this invitation only and you're taunting the rest of us?

I'm 22. Plenty of PBR riding in my truck for nights around the campfire.

I went in March last year and we had great weather luckily! Thanks for the heads up though, warm bags and plenty of clothes will be on the list. The trip is not invite only, if you want to get out and wheel we would be happy to have you there. We aren't trying to keep this trip exclusive otherwise we wouldn't have put it on the forum! That being said, we aren't trying to make this into a giant T4R meet-up either.

Gotcha, just curious since it seemed pretty much closed but was posted here which made me wonder. I usually make it to Moab twice a year but don't plan very far in advance so I won't now either. Besides the long-range planning I'm an "old guy" and you guys would probably have a hard time keeping up. :lmao:

Yea x2 on what chris said. The whole invite system is so it doesnt end up being a mess of people and we have to make groups and decide who is going where and blah blah blah.
CXS you got in early so it would be fine if you came. I think the purpose of this thread was to more be a spot for everybody to talk about this. conversing with PMs with 6+ people isnt the easiest.

Thanks for letting me invite myself along for this one.

I work shifts, so my schedule is predictable except for the times when they change my rotation. For the week of 3/15-3/23 I'm scheduled for graveyards, but I'll be able to get that time off easily unless someone with more seniority makes it their "first choice" vacation for the year. Assuming that I can get the time off, I'll be available to attend the whole duration of the trip.

I won't be able to put in for the vacation time until after the first of the year when our new schedules come out, so denial of my vacation request could possibly still be a deal breaker for me. Otherwise I'm good to go. I told my Wife that this was in the works, and she said... "Go! You should, it'll be fun." Who am I to argue with that?

During my last trip, I was taking some time off from alcohol so I've never had a beer in Moab. I wouldn't mind fixing that this time around.

I'm 32, btw. So unless CXS shows up, I guess I'll be the old fart.

Well it appears I'm going to make this trip fellas. Maybe not the entire week but a good part of it anyway.

The wife and I were planning a cruise around this time but we moved that up to Feb hence why I wasn't sure at first.

I'm sure I'll chat with you dudes enough between now and then to figure out the details but I'll be there.

I am making a trip out to Moab this Spring, I just don't know what dates are going to work until I get a little closer and see how work is going. March might be a little early, as the ski area's will still be open. I'm assuming you guys will be camping?

I assumed we would be camping, cheaper than stayin in a hotel. I have stayed at the Moab KOA in one of their little cabins and it was nice having a bed after getting worked on the tougher trails, pretty cheap too since its just a room with a couple beds in it. I also figured it would be pretty chilly still, how late do the slopes stay open around there?

I'm planning on camping, yes. If you think you can make it just let us know.

If spring break was in April we would be there!

I will be bringing my trailer when I go out there, so I will be camping too. It's hard to know what the weather will be like, but the average high is 65 and the low is 35 for the middle of March. The ski area's are open into April, but it's spring break that's busy for the shuttle business. If that date falls on other, out of state spring breaks, then I doubt I will be able to make it. It also depends on the overall business volume this season, snow fall, :blah:. I'll let you guy's know.

holy moly. NateMob BigFishAllDay and Dirtco. Thats like all my favorite trucks. I'll have a hard time stopping the drool so I can wheel.

It would be sweet if you could make it dirtco, you'd show us all up but ya know who cares :D. plus seeing your truck in person may be the push I need to grab 35s

Thanks man, assuming I can make it I'll be looking forward to checking out your rig as well.

As far as wheeling with w/Jeremiah (Dirtco) goes, just look at it as a learning opportunity. He and I ran Fins & Things together last year, and watching him drive actually did help me to pick better lines.
