Moab in March

So, Chris...

Is the campground that you guys are staying at on Onion Creek this one:

38°41'29.24"N 109°11'26.57"W (just plug into google and go to maps tab)

Or did you guys find one lower down on the creek? I ran that trail on my own last year (Geyser Pass > La Sal loop road> Thompson Mesa > Fisher Towers > Onion Creek) and I'm trying to remember where the campgrounds are located.

If I wanted to camp with you guys would I need to go in and reserve my own site? If so, do you have a link I could use to do that? Last time I just camped at BFE with the TW group so I didn't have to worry much about where I was going to stay.

It sounds like you guys have your plan pretty much dialed in. At this point it seems that everyone from the forum has dropped out except for your (original) group, and possibly myself. I'm up in the air as to how I want to get to Moab this year. There are three options on the table; this one, the classics go to moab group in april, and the TW meet in may. I could probably make any of the three work, I just have to figure out which will work best.

Wow...I just saw this. I'm leaving tomorrow for a month long trip around Utah and Arizona. There's a good chance I'll be out there when you guys are. I'll be in Moab this week, but I'll try to come back when you guys are there. This just made my day!

We will be at Upper Onion Creek B. It is along Highway 128. Between mile marker 21 and 22 you turn towards the Fisher Towers and go less than a mile on a gravel road, the lat/long you posted is much further east along Onion Creek Rd than we will be. You can stay at the group site with us, it's reserved for 18 but I don't think they will come count, and you will make it 19 so no big deal. You are the last holdout from the forum. And it sounds like Stockwell will be in the area, so maybe wheeling with him too.

Nice man. You should post up a thread with pics from your trip like you did last time. That would be sweet if we finally got to do some wheeling.

Alright, I'm with you now. I remember passing those group sites on my way out last time, but I only saw the big parking spot at the front of group site B near the road and there were a bunch of people with 4wheelers and trailers parked there. I thought it was just a loading/unloading area for trailered vehicles. When you said Onion Creek, I thought you meant the more primitive sites way up there (which are nice too).

According to the BLM site:

Group Site B accommodates from 8 to 20 people. It has parking for up to 6 vehicles.

So being body #19 wouldn't be an issue, but they might hassle us over having 8 vehicles there. We could say two of us were just stopping by or something.

When you say I'm the last from the forum... TCMach (Tyler?) is still in, right?

Yeah I don't think they will come by and count, if they do we will figure something out on the fly (as long as the NSA doesn't rat us out :spy: ). And yeah Tyler is still in!

Well...I'm sitting in McDonalds parking lot in Moab using their wifi. It's sprinkling now, and more is supposed to come tonight. It definitely won't be dusty on the trails at least!

What trails you gonna hit? When I checked trail closings yesterday, I was surprised to see the many closures. Will be there the 2nd week of March.

I just ran the white rim trail in mineral bottom this morning...everything I have seen is pretty mucky. Had to winch out of an otherwise easy spot because it was so bad. I am towing a trailer with my dual sport so I've been looking for the loop trails, so I can go back and get my trailer easier. I'll ride up and see if top of the world is open tomorrow

I will be there with 2 maybe 3 other Toyotas from March 14th-16th. My 4Runner, a 80 series, a Tundra and possibly another Tundra. I'm running Fins on Saturday for sure so if anyone wants to join us send me a PM. Also going for Cruise Moab in May!

I hate that i wont be making the trip this time, there's always next year or maybe in October/November when i get back. Have fun Gents, Ill be living vicariously through yall while i live it up in the Middle East for six months.

We're not running Fins, but thanks for the heads up man. Have fun.

Looks like I will just miss you all. I'll be there the March 9th-13th.

Got shut down on the vacation time guys....

BFAD...OUT!

Sucks, but I'm sure you guys will have me drooling with some pics soon.

Keep your heads up and your eyes open on Trifecta.

I think you guys are supposed to be back from your trip tonight????

Bump for pics.

Bump for carnage.

Bump for tales of glory.

Trip technically ended Wednesday. I've been in Salida, CO since then at my girlfriends grandparents house. But I'll finally be home tomorow so I'll have time to post all the pictures I got. FR4R has a ton that will need going through.

Carnage: my poor high lift. Pointing the lifting horn down resulted in me dragging it everywhere. So I will be flipping it or something. It still works fine. Just scraped up. You'll hear it on the video.

Glory: did golden crack without lifting a tire. And video proof. More videos on that channel if your interested

I cut over 1500 pictures to around 600 and I'm still waiting on some from another dudes camera. So now I need to pick the best ones. Here are a couple teasers for now
