Moab Trip (4x4 and MTB)

Hi Guys,

I'm planning a trip out to Moab at the end of the month and thought I'd extend out the invite to any T4R members who may be interested. It will be a combo of mountain biking and off-road excursions. On the mountain biking side we will be hitting advanced/intermediate trails and on the 4x4 side we will most likely stick to mild/intermediate routes.

I know some of you guys ride MTB so it would be great to see others out there. The plan is to depart SF in the afternoon on Friday 3/25 and return Sunday 4/3. Accommodations are still up in the air but we will most likely be staying at a hotel. Let me know if anyone is interested!

I've been wanting to do some mtb up there....

Yes, I definitely recommend. The riding out here is unreal, very technical, steep and rocky. My favorite. Here is a shot from a trail called Captain Ahab:

4wheeling here is super awesome too, extremely scenic. If you ever want to ride mtb in NorCal let me know. I'm in Santa Cruz almost every weekend riding Demo or the secret UC trails.

I'm pretty familiar with most of the MTB trails in the area. PM me if you have specific questions.

If burro pass is clear of snow by the time you're there, make sure you do "The Whole Enchilada". A shuttle bus will take you nearly to the top of the La Sal mountains and you ride all the way back to Moab, traveling through many different environments. One of my favorite rides in the country.

Other highlights are Porcupine Rim and Amassa Back.

Of course Slickrock trail, but thats a different sort of riding. For that, remember, no brakes. You need all your momentum to make it up the climbs. It's like a big natural roller coaster bike park.

Please let us know how the trip was (ideally w/ Pics). It would be great inspiration to motivate us for future trips. Moab is definitely on my Bucket List for both 4x4 and Mtn. Biking (although I don't get the chance to ride as much as I use to... I'm more at an intermediate skills and fitness level right now[emoji53]
