About two weeks ago I ordered an '07 Galactic Gray Limited 4x2 with almost all the options I can think of. The only one I am beginning to regret is the Stainless Steel side sill protectors. What do they look like anyway? Does anyone know if it would be possible to remove this option before it comes in? Has anyone ever attempted to remove options after they have placed orders? I don't know if it is to be shipped with this option or if it will be 'port' installed. What does that mean anyway (port installed)??

That is definately port installed or dealer installed. they are just stainless steel door sill protectors that go over your stock plastic door sill protectors with double sided tape and say 4RUNNER on them. Im sure you could cancel them, and if not then just peel them off when the car comes and sell them on ebay.
Port installed means that they are installed at the distributer. The regional distributer installs many accessories (many usually aftermarket like the door sills are) on the cars and charges a premium over the cost you could buy them for yourself.

I installed them myself and they are just stuck on with a 3M double-sided tape adhesive strip. They may not be real easy to pull off, but I am sure they will come off with no problems if you don't like them. They go right over the plastic door sill protectors that come from the factory. If you do remove them you may need some alcohol to get rid of the leftover adhesive. (Or that stuff you can buy in the bottle that does the same thing.)

Thanks for the replies! Are they worth it or do most people not order them at all? Are there any pics around here you all have seen on 4R's??

If they are worth it or not is relative to the owner. I think they look great, but would not have paid the MSRP for the peices of metal from the parts department. Thankfully, I got a deal and they were delivered to me at dealer cost (which is a helluva lot cheaper than what the parts department will charge you!)

There are plenty of pictures on the board with them. Do a search for them and floormats. You will be able to see them in some floormat picture shots.

Oh, BTW, the Toyota all weather floormats are worth the price.
