Modify parking lights to blink with turn signal $27 / 45min

Brief write up of how to modify the parking lights so they function as parking lights and blink with the turn signal lights.

In summary:
You'll want a 3-wire LED bulb / socket and splice the 12V line from the turn signal light into the parking light bulb. It will be steady amber until you engage turn signal, then it will blink (brighter) amber. In this method I dremeled out the corner light housing a bit to accommodate the larger bulb socket. (note rapid flash is the GIF not the real blinker speed).

Detailed Steps:
1. Remove corner light assemblies
2. Cut existing wire at the bulb socket.
3. Dremel the hole in light assembly just enough to accommodate new light socket
4. Splice into the 12V wire from the existing parking lights in bumper. Will require about 12 inches of 18 awg wire.
5. Connect wires and test light function, switch polarity if not working.
6. Solder the parking light wires to the bulb socket and the 12V lead from the parking light. Electrical tape everything. I used the optional quick disconnects.
7. Insert bulb and socket, add bead of silicone to hold socket in place. Reinstall corner light housings.
8. Enjoy.

You don't have to use an LED bulb. Any dual filament will do the job. There's a few of us that have done this. I used 7443s, same bulb as the taillights.

That's nice! However, webpage does not say what current rating / power rating bulbs the module would accommodate.

They'll easily handle a "plug and play" 194/921 LED bulb.

They have a higher capacity version that can handle up to 3 amps, I've yet to see a turn signal replacement LED that draws anywhere near that current. Are you trying to wire a light bar to one? :wow:
