Modular storage panel comparison - Rago, Orangeboxx

I would like to order a set of one of these and I know that Orangeboxx had some problems initially but it sounds like they have addressed those so has anyone compared the Rago version vs. Orangeboxx? They appear to be very similar and the 'details' listed on their websites actually mirror one another so one of them copied and pasted from the other or they both plagiarized from the same source. Orangeboxx specifically states that they shouldn't be used for anything over 35 lbs. and I assume the same applies for the Rago solution. Any pros or cons between the two solutions would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to make a decision and order one or the other. Thanks in advance...

Orangeboxx was first to market with their product, after some quality control problems and complaints about customer service a number of folks asked Rago to build one. They did and seemed to improve the design making it stronger and a much more solid mount. At that point it seems that the competition and lost sales motivated Orangeboxx to improve and ship out upgraded parts to previous buyers. I don't have either myself for full disclosure.

The main disadvantage I see is the price. $299 - $350 for a pair or even $150 for one side is ridiculous......

But as I have said before, "If they build it, t4r.org users WILL BUY IT!"

There are plenty of customers that had OBs original product and then purchased ours. I do know they have since corrected their design issues but cannot speak for anything else.

I believe it may have been [MENTION=152226]engineeer[/MENTION] that originally had asked us to make a Storage Panel.

As far as plagiarism, I actually was notified of that last week. Our product description was actually written and posted on many forums before it was copied and pasted on OBs website. You can easily identify my writing style and abilities by checking out our other product descriptions on our website.

D of OB is a notorious asshat. He provides brackets for brackets as fixes. His innovate not imitate doesn't really hold much but it may here. I don't often come on T4R.org because it seems kinda stale on new products. Like aliRaised who steals bracket designs and then slanders first.

All folks have to do is go through archives and see how many he arational fixes and additional. Rackets to bracket. Or. Rackets to spacers.

Mario Rago did his right the first time. OB would be the place to go for cutting some initials or other jazz. But for first time right, and customer service that doesn't require a clean up crew.

But thank you OB. If it weren't for your past threads here, myself and and others never would have asked to have Rago make a panel. So you did good for us 4RNR kids that way

It wasn't me that directly asked y'all to make it, but my thread complaining about their terrible customer service led to another person who knows y'all asking you to make your MSP for the 5th gen.

[MENTION=144540]derryck[/MENTION], to reiterate, I've owned both the OB product and the Rago product. Rago is a much higher quality product (I'm quite picky) and their customer service and interaction with us here on this forum is unparalleled in my opinion.

I do not own the msp but do have the [MENTION=139789]RagoFabrication[/MENTION] ditch brackets. top notch product and customer service.
It is also important to note that the Ragos also support various groups (AZ4Runners), causes and events as they recently donated goodie bags for a trail clean up I was involved with.
Something I usually take into consideration before doing business with a company, especially a Vet owned and operated one.

Just installed the Rago Fabrication panels and they're darn near bombproof. Really good design, and really easy install. No rattles or movement over a 2,000 mile trip through Baja, Mexico; following about 300-400 miles of the SCORE 1000 course.

Worth every penny.

Does Rago not sell a single side, just the pair?

And I just realized you lose the ability to use the cargo cover...

OB Storage Panels

Does anyone know if the OB Storage Panels will work with the Rago Shelf. I currently have the OB Panels have had 0 issues with them. They are plenty sturdy with gear attached and were easy to install. OB does not currently make a shelf attachment though. Thanks.
 
I also recommend Rago for their amazing customer service and solid product. Just installed my panels last weekend and they are very sturdy.
 
Seem like a lot of drama in the past --- am I going to get torched cause I ordered a Gobi stealth, lol. I can't speak directly to the Rago modular storage panels but as a first test I ordered the Rago center console panels. From what I've seen I'm 100% impressed by the quality and the modular panels and shelf will be following in quick succession. I feel like I've solved the panel question by stumbling on Rago from the beginning; my bigger problem is finding reputable mole bags in various sizes to use with it.
 
I just installed the Orange box panels on my 4Runner. They were ok and just what I thought they'd be (though the powder coating could have been better and also the packaging). But the instructions were horrible (not that you need them) and I am now billed an additional $10 because they claim that I didn't provide an accurate enough address. I'm sure the product quality is going to last and be pretty good over time but most definitely not very professional.
