Mojave Road on 1 full tank?

I personally haven't, but I would follow the good 'ol 'better safe than sorry' rule.
Being stranded in the desert does not sound fun.

Yes, I just did it a couple of weeks ago and had about 1/8th left at the end. I would HIGHLY recommend you bring at least a few gallons just in case. There is no way I would do it without some spare gas. I brought 10 gallons, you never know what's going to happen.

You'll need at least 5 extra gallons if you don't want to hit pavement on literal fumes. The raptor runs that go through can do the MR in about 4.5 hours, but those have much bigger tanks.
When I did it we got into Needles on the reserve light and that's with an extra 6gallons of gas.

Geezus they must not like those trucks much. I can't imagine how fast you would have to go to complete it in a day let alone 4.5 hrs.

I did it in October from end to end on a tank of gas. Total miles between fillups was 185 and I used just under 16 gallons (didn't need to hit the first gas station after finishing.) At the start, get gas at the Safeway at Aztec Rd and 95 in Fort Mojave, AZ. It is like $1.50 cheaper than anything in Needles and only a few miles from the start of the trail.

Escaping the horror of another New England winter for the solace of the desert I love, I'll be hitting the Mojave Trail before long. And so looking for your write up!
But to the OP: If you have means to carry extra gas outside of of the cab, do so - you'll never regret it. Otherwise... what someone else said.

I've done the MR 4x and each time camped in a different location first night. Endless possibilities out there. Haven't done it in my 4R yet, only my F150, and have always had about 1/4 tank left roughly, but I always bring a 5gal jug too. Easier with the truck bed.
Highly recommend having this book and map. Little pricey now, might find cheaper on Amazon or somewhere else, but it has come in handy out there: Mojave Road Guide and Map Mojave National Preserve – DesertUSA
The start is just north of the Avi Casino. We always take a group picture next to the river, then you head back south until the field on your right starts to end. You'll turn right onto that dirt road and take that until you cross Needles Hwy. Follow the wash until it starts veering NW, go up and around the Dead Mtns, past Balancing Rock, and down into the valley is where you'll cross the 95. Google Maps

Been looking at this road for awhile and want to hit it with my fiancée. Extra gas always helps.
Quick question to anyone who has driven the road recently.
Is it true that they filled up the river crossing so you dont really need a snorkel?
The one thing holding me back from this trip.

YES, they filled it with rocks. It's still about a foot deep though when there is no rain. So enough to tear off your front license plate and if you got a silver or black valence in the front, it will tear that off too, so go slow if you aren't rocking a aftermarket bumper, or if you care about your license plate/valence.
What people don't talk about is, right after the river crossing (west to east) or before the river crossing (east to west), is 2 mud holes that tends to form under the railroad bridge and running parallel with the railroad tracks, and those can get pretty deep when there is rain forecasted.
Cool off your car before you go play in the river, so you don't get water sucked up into your diff or get a diff breather relocation kit.
Otherwise, that section of the mojave road (afton canyon) is fun as hell.

Just know though, the east end part of the road is paved by softball sized rocks, whoops, and whoopdedooooos.... big enough to slow you down too a crawl, not the most enjoyable section.
The west part of the track is the faster sections (river crossing, dry lake bed, dunes, blasting down canyons, etc).
If you don't have time to do the whole trail, its more fun to do the west side.
