Here's a quick picture of the basic trail. You start just west of the Avi Casino, in Laughlin and end in Afton Canyon, near Barstow. We're going to stretch it out to include camping Sunday night also:

Yes, the plan is to leave Orange County around 10a on Thursday the 7th, and stay the night at the Avi Casino. Then, leave around 7a Friday morning. The trailhead is very close to the hotel.

It's pretty easy, I'd say the hardest stuff is the sand wash East of Afton Canyon. I did 80% of it in 2Wd with balding ATs

Looks like there was a big group from toyota120.com that just finished up a Mojave Road trip.

Where would the camping spots be at? Looks like those guys camp in a really cool spot in the New York Mountains area but I'm a little concerned about the roughness of the road that goes up there. Probably not a big deal for me since mine's got a mild lift and AT tires but just curious..

We're not 100% on camping locations just yet, we're going to pin those down this weekend.

Bumping this: rooms are booked at the Avi Casino for Thursday night. We'll be leaving the Avi gas station around 8a Friday morning. So far we've got 3 rigs, and it would definitely be nice to have more. This is a very fun run, easy on your vehicle and amazing scenery.
