Moog FJ springs + Bilstien 5100

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of moog FJ springs and a set of bilstien 5100s to replace my xreas and stock springs. I've been reading conflicting information and wanted to confirm that I should order the 4WD FJ springs as opposed to the RWD:

My goal is to have the bilstien 5100s installed at .85 paired with the moog springs. The 4R is a 2WD highway DD that won't do any towing or off-road, just looking to stiffen up the ride as right now I'm hitting the bump stops on the highway whenever I go over a large dip. I'm at 200k miles

To better elaborate, I'm considering:

Front: 5100 @ .85 + Moog FJ 81088
Rear: 5100 + Moog FJ 81081

The conflicting info I've been seeing is that the 81081 in the rears don't sit properly and require modifications to install. I'm not certain if I should instead consider the moog 81045 for the rear, which is the 4runner specific replacement, as I would expect that one to fit properly.

For those running the moog coils, which one did you end up with in the rear and would you recommend it?

Bump for clarification on this too. FJ Thread has tons of info but spread over a gazzillion pages. Also noticed that some FJ/Bilstein 5100 setup's w/o spacers sit higher than some members. I could be wrong but some of the information posted is conflicting.

i have the moog fj 4x4 front springs, the 81045 moog 4runner rear springs and 5100s. my truck is basically level with the bilsteins set on the bottom notch (no lift). even with the 81045s, i had to cut about 3/4-1" of the bottom spring wrap to make them sit all the way over the perch.

truck is an 06 4x4 v6

If this bit of info helps, FJ 4WD springs will yield more lift than the RWD ones. I can’t remember exactly how much - 1/2” maybe?

I saw your pic from the other thread and your truck looks great, it's exactly what I'm looking for. It sounds like you're pleased with the ride quality as well. I'll have the bilstiens set at 0 and take it from there.

I love the 4x4 moogs on the front. Cant beat the value. im at the .85" heigt and yielded about 2.25+"

THe rear moogs were junk. THey didnt fit right but eventually seated themselves. THey are not powdercoated, and with be covered in rust in a few short months. I got past all that. What made me take them out last week is they are just too soft. YOu might as well keep your stock ones and add spacers. Im cheap so I changed them out for some 5th gen rear springs and its a bit better. Had to add a spacer to match the front tho.

I highly recommend adding poly stabilizer bushings too. You dont know how bad your bushings are until you put these things in- amazing.

Just installed Moog springs, NO modifications were necessary to the spring. They needed a 10mm OME top spacer to level the truck out. As well as the 3/8" drivers strut spacer.

Front springs on 5100's @ 1.75 perch + 3/8 driver spacer
Rear 81 (last 2 digit) springs, 5100 shocks + 10mm spacer

Truck sits perfectly level side to side, front is 1/4" lower then rear. Ride is nice, firm but comfortable. For the cost, huge improvement over stock.
