More lighting

Looking for some cheap/decent lights to supplement my low beams. Anybody know of a good deal on something? I'm thinking a flood beam is what I'm looking for, right?

Are these good for on road driving with low beams?

No you do not want the flood beams, those would be for backup lights. Flood beams don't.shine very far, I have a set on the back of my rack for backup/work lights, they are 55w each and don't shine far enought to be used for driving. You want either a fog or a driving light/beam. What are you looking to pay? Most of the lights I have are all driving beams I have one set of fogs, and the big IPFs on my brush guard have ion bulbs in them (for foul weather driving) even though they are a driving beam. I have them aimed down low enough that they light up the road no more than 60' in front of me.

I should have explained more. I'm wanting to use them with on coming traffic.....And I'm thinking those hella's I posted are suited for my budget if they are worth having.

You could throw in a brighter bulb like the silverstars or do an HID conversion.

Same here. I am looking for something to light up more in the short range. Like right in front of the vehicle. I think I need to go with a fog beam but I would like a round housing. My idea is to mount them inside the bumper valence like BFAD has done on his 97.

does anyone know of some round housings that have a fog beam instead of a driving beam? Also fairly cheap.

Cj80, I personally don't think the 500s are worth it unless you upgrade them. Actually, they're junk unless you upgrade them.

That's what they're good for - a cheap platform to build an HID conversion on.

I suggest doubling your budget and look at Hella or PIAA. Better to do it once and right.

yeah PIAA makes several round fog lights, the 510, 540, 520, and the 580... they all come in an ION fog...

When I bought my 99 4runner, the first change I made was to the X-travision lights. It made a huge improvement over stock. For street use, I have no need for more lights up front. The Silverstar bulbs only last about 18 months in our van. Big waste of money IMO.
