Hello all!.
i cant stop debating with myself the next step for my 4runner. long travel, solid axle, sell it, keep it. so im just gonna try and ask a simple but complicated question so i can hopefully get the most direct answer possible and really have the proper idea of what my options are. i know this is probably in someone elses post but im asking again so i can get a more directed answer...hopefully.
i got my 96 4runner. Im really thinking at a solid axle swapping it. i want to put a fj80 solid axle up front and know its possible and quite easy to do with an adapter and gear driven case.
so my question is, besides the fj80 axle, adapter, and gear driven case, what else am i needed to do the swap? if i were to take the 80 axle out of a donor, are there certain components i should make sure to grab? if the donor had lockers in the front could i use that in the runner? im just trying to avoid missing things after getting to the point of no return.
im mechanically inclined and have the resources to do the work and what ever i cant do i have the help to do it i just want to get some opinionated answers here from the true owners and see maybe if anyones been in my shoes and what you did/didnt do and how it worked out for you?
thanks all and if im missing factors here let me know.
