Hi guys, I'm working on a trim restoring project and thought I'd share my review on a product I tried this week.

Mothers Back to Black - miracle product!

I've been a life long Armor-All user but after trying the Back to Black, I'm totally sold. It's easily twice as effective as Armor-All.

I actually couldn't believe how new it made some of the trim on my car look. Of course some was badly enough sun beaten that I hit it with black trim paint in some places.

In any case, it's really restored the look of the moldings/trim.

Please report back in a couple of weeks. In my experience 'Back to black' didn't last long enough to be worth it. I used it on Wrangler flares (chronic 'greying' issue) and it just didn't cut it. For me, the best solution was to paint them with Krylon fusion. Pick your color, pull the plastic off the vehicle, prep them with a heat gun (works great, no joke), then spray away, re-install, enjoy black flares and trim again, no maintenance required.

Quick aside: The heat gun trick works wonders on unpainted exterior trim. This process by itself basically 'restores' the color of faded plastics. If you heat the trim up to near melt you can essentially refinish the plastic. It will fade/UV damage again of course, hence the painting mentioned above.

I had limited success with mine. I used the cleaner and then the restorer. It took a lot of black grime off my trim and made it a little bit darker. But not as
Much as I hoped.

It won't last any real time, post #2 gives the best solution and plastidip also lasts significantly longer and any damage to it is easily repaired.

Another previous user who'll report it doesn't really last. None of the trim restorers I have used really do last.

+1 to heat gun or plastidip

On a side note, just saw a youtube ad of this, but in a spray can now.

Interesting feedback guys...

Let me back up and say that it is the best black trim restorer I've ever used, at least on first impression.

I guess I don't expect it to last a long time and I am under the impression that I will have to reapply every 2-3 car washes, which I'm ok with.

As I mentioned, the parts that were really badly sun damaged got/will get black trim paint.

My reaction to Armor-all is similar to the reactions some of you guys have had to Back to Black.

Armor-All always failed to meet expectation but I never found anything better until now.

Heat gun is my favorite tool now. i was amazed how many things you can fix with it.

I concur. The mothers back to black does not last long. The best product I have used it the turtle wax trim restorer. Lasts normally 3 weeks for me

Meguiar's Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer is awesome I'd highly recommend it. Keeps my trim dark for usually a couple months.

It's funny that Armor-All used to be the authority product in this department... And now totally sucks relative to the competition.

Visit AutoGeek.com and there you wil find and endless variety of car detailing products that are costly but provide excellent results. I have bought many of my detailing products from them and have always been satisfied. They also have many videos that are helpful. I stopped using ruinit-all many years ago once I was introduced to the products detailers use.
