motion sickness, suspension upgrade

So, in just purchased brand new SR5 my co-pilot gets motion sick :( while on road driving
We didn't have this problem in most other cars including rental 4runner once before. This is a huge disappointment...

Any suggestions on minimal suspension upgrade to mitigate this problem?

Thank you!

P.S. To response to a few comments and suggestions: This is not the first car we own or drive. But the first to have this issue. We owned a few different ones and we rented a few including 4runner and didn't have the problem. It appears we are sensitive to this particular one. Question is how to correct this without paying arm or leg...

P.P.S. I'm ready to do this now, but I'd like to find a quick strut assembly to do it myself. Could somebody suggest one without lift?
Bilstein doesn't seem to have quick strut and Rancho only has 2" lift which I don't want.

PPPS Thank you everybody for your responses I have replaced front shocks with Bilstein 5100 and it seems to have solved the problem!
More tests to follow....

A few years later: with new Bilstein 5100 It was fine for a little bit, but like 10K miles later nauseous came back :puke:
Dramamine works but I'd like to fix the car instead....

Dramamine

My girlfriend has to take Dramamine on longer drives so I'll suggest that again. Hard braking and hard turning also gets her when she rides in her friends SUV. I generally drive slower and smoother. I don't know your driving habits but factor that in.
Your person could also try driving it to help alleviate the sickness.

As far as suspension, 5100s will probably be your cheapest and best bet to get rid of the nose dive and possible boat feeling. I'm running Dobinsons myself. Eibach and Ironman are probably good options as well.

I was hoping for less expensive option :wink2:

There's a natural frequency of a typical person's stride. According to some literature I've read on suspension tuning, if the frequency of the cycles of the suspension is far off from the body's natural frequency it tends to cause motion sickness. Generally motion sickness is associated with frequency below 1hz. So I think the target should be to increase the shock damping force to speed up the natural frequency of the system.

You could start with something as simple as increased tire pressure to test.

But then id consider firmer shocks. Lots of options. Either 5100s or 4600 Bilstein are popular. You could start just on the rear and see if that helps enough. It the cheapest place to swap shocks. Fronts probably help more but it's more involved and $ to do.
