motion sickness, suspension upgrade

I was gonna say if you're getting low numbers could be driving style contributing. But 18 isn't too horrible.

I'm guessing we're still a no on that flavored Dramamine dispenser on the dash?
Has your partner tried sitting in other spots in the vehicle? Laying the seat further back, more air from the vents? Not looking at their phone?
[MENTION=118321]Jetboy[/MENTION] is on the right track I think, I'm just wondering if you've experimented a bit too see if there's just an ideal spot for them? My mom likes to sit in the back on trips, it helps with her motion sickness if she's not driving or navigating.

I’m not surprised by the motion sickness. Its a known thing for passengers of a 4Runner. For one, the car continues to bounce softly even after it has come to a complete stop. Then there is the lean on turns.
This is why I opted for a model with KDSS for the firmer on-road feel with the softer off-road combined. Good luck with this. Passenger motion sickness was my second biggest concern.
Actually, Camry’s in the early to mid 2000’s were also known for this. Not sure what other Toyotas were, but many have complained about their suspensions, which is why I had always opted for Hondas.

Have your alignment and tire pressure checked first. Constant corrections could be the culprit. Check your driving habits.

This is not the first car we own or drive. But the first to have this issue. We we owned a few and we rented a few including 4runner and didn't have the problem.

That's my point, so if no issue in the other cars maybe something like alignment, tire pressure, or the way you drive the 4Runner is off. If the alignment, suspension, or tires are out, you may be constantly correcting subconsciously and only the passengers feel the movement. If your on and off the gas, that will take a toll. Just trade it in for a Land Cruiser and you will be floating on air.

Throw a bunch of heavy stuff in the very back to try and simulate a change to suspension. If it makes a difference then move forward with the suspension mod others have mentioned. I don’t think you have any choice really. It isn’t working in the current configuration so you have to either change it or get rid of it.

For me personally motion sickness is caused by the peripheral view of movement out the side window. Having the sides tinted might help cut that down a bit.
For others, the distortion of the added layer/color could also cause issues.

swap the shocks out to bilstein 5100's. itll stiffen it up. Maybe its too soft and bounces a few times before recovering from bumps?
