Motor Help

Hey all, I'm new back to the 4WD world, but my problem is that I have a 4Runner that my mother used to own and she supposedly blew the head, so I was wondering do I have any opinions that will allow me to reuse that motor?

I'm assuming you mean the head gasket? Well I would start by seeing how much water is in the engine oil and figure how long it was driven like that if there is. Antifreeze in the crankcase wipes out crankshaft bearings in a hurry as well as any other moving parts. If there is no water in the oil then it's probably worth fixing....because it's a Toyota!

So if it is worth fixing, would I be lookin at gettin a engine rebuild kits. I seen a few online and wanted to see if that was what I would need, since I don't really have that much money to spend only like $500.

Well I just talked to my mom and she thinks that the water/oil mixed, so do I have anything other options that are within or close to my budget of 500?

I don't know if you can get an entire quality rebuild kit for the V6 that cheap and finding a good used engine in my area is tuff as well. You could get the head set though and have the heads pressure tested/resurfaced at a machine shop and roll in a set of bearings yourself for around that price.
