Mounting light to hitch receiver arms

Any reason not to drill small pilot holes and self tapping screws to mount these lights to the hitch arms on either side of the receiver like this?

If you off-road where departure angle is important to you that seems like an awful place to put them. Also I'd rather have a work/scene light that shines down and gives me a good wide beam rather than something that is more focused on the ground.

Thanks, but when mounted they will have less drop than the hitch receiver -- so will be protected. I will be mounting a work-style light on my rack above, but want these as a switch activated backup aid. My night eyes are not what they were and I need a few more lumens back there every once in a while. Cheers.
