Mounting lights on factory roof rack

I searched for a while and never found a complete answer or pictures.. But what I have an idea of is can aux lights, like the hella's or pia's, be mounted on the factory roof rack cross bars? Like 4 of them. My only concern is the cross bar being to thin..or it looking weird seeing as how far away from the front of the 4runner the cross bar is.. Thanks in advance! :happy bda

I have a 3rd gen so I don't know if this will help or not but since you said you couldn't find anything...
I mounted two KC daylighters on a spare factory bar I got from the junkyard and mounted furthest front this summer. Just drilled two holes through rubbery plastic and metal and mounted 'em. Been on several road trips and off-road without a hitch, lights weren't jumping around when I used them on easy off-road. I now have 3 bars, two for the rack and one for the lights.

Here they are, hadn't aimed them yet. Can't use them with the sunroof open but otherwise no glare on the hood at all. Again, a 3rd gen.

Ya i meant no info on 4th gen ha. Im going to see what lights i want and measure it out on top just to get an idea.. Will let you know if i end up doing this. Going to stop by junkyard to try and find extra cross bar! (smart idea)

where did you run the wire? from on the cross bar?

If you're asking me (still a 3rd gen- may not apply to 4th gens) underneath the endcaps there are holes with a plastic vase-like plug in each. I pulled the headliner back just enough to clip the bottom off one of those 'vases', removed the endcap (screw holds it there) and drilled a hole, reinstalled it then ran the wires through there into the truck, sealed with silicone.

If you're not asking me then never mind and carry on.
