Mounting options for Hi-Lift please?

Hi folks.
I have a 2011 SR5. It's lifted & has oversized tires & wheels. I'd like a Hi-Lift Jack but don't know where I'd put it. My roof is occupied w/ an 8 surf rod rack. My front is occupied w/ a front hitch, auxiliary fog lights & a removable surf fishing cooler & rod rack.
Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I don’t have a 3rd row seat so I’m guessing you mean behind the rear (fold forward) seats?
Is there some sort of rattle free bracket that’s commercially available?

I don’t know if it would fit, but it might be less in the way if it were mounted along the side (latterly, front to rear) of the rear cargo area.
Again I’ll ask, are there commercially avaiable mounts that would work there so it wouldn’t rattle?
That being said, a shovel mount there w/ it would be awfully handy as well. I carry one nearly all the time. In the spring, summer, fall for the beach & for the snow in the winter.

There is absolutely no reason to ever carry your jack outside and carrying a hi lift all the time is just hauling around dead weight. You gonna use it going to the mall? Just treat it like any other tool and throw it in the back when you are going somewhere that you might need it. If I take mine (rarely if ever) and IF I use it ( haven't needed to use it in years) I would put the dirty end in a trash bag and put it back inside.

I wouldn't mount it outside the vehicle, unless you plan on constantly taking it down to clean/lube it. Otherwise, it won't work when you need it. Especially in PA.

As advised, unless you want it for looks, keep it in the garage. Your factory bottle jack is more than capable for changing a tire at the mall, regardless of tire size.

To the mall? I’m not a mall crawler.
I’m often on the sand and occasionally off road. I’m not confidant that my OEM bottle jack will be sufficient w/ my lift & oversized tires. I could be wrong though. I suppose I should give it a try. I just figured I put that in the back & use the space w/ the OEM bottle jack to store other stuff, e.g, tow strap etc...
Does that make sence or is that faulty thinking?

There is a thread here about mounting one on the stock roof rack. I'm thinking it might be good for my sand flea rake.

BTW my Grandpappy taught me early on that you don't ever leave any gear behind when you go fishin', cause that will be the very thing you will need on the beach.

What 1engineer said. Get a 48" and it fits great behind the rear seats (2nd row) . A couple tie downs and it doesn't move around. For a added bonus it is not exposed to the elements so it's not rusty in a year.

16 rod holders? Awesome! Reminds me of the quail rigs in Texas. I would love to learn the surf casting ropes from you if you have the time.

I only mount mine on top when going off road. And fwiw the stock bottle jack won't even come close to reaching the frame on my rig. I keep 4 squares of 2x6 under the sliding tray

The best person to teach you the technique is Ryan White at Hatteras Jack in Rodanthe NC. He gives good reasonably priced lessons. Highly recommended.

FYI, hi lifts are only useful if you have a place on the truck to lift without destroying it. Stock 4Runner body makes it somewhat useless. Rock slider give you a few options, but still not ideal. Really need steel bumpers all the way around.

Larger tires do not require a hilift... It's generally a tool of last resort.

I suggest some wood and an integrated bottle/jack stand. Much safer.

X-Jack is also a good tool in sand....

Hi-lifts have some uses, but generally a bad choice for the avg 4Runner.

Was gonna say the same thing.. I didn't see sliders mentioned in your sig, so to change a flat you'll have to use the wheel lift adapter, but then lower it onto jack stands to swap the tire out... A huge mess.

I wouldn't carry a high lift inside the cabin unless it was absolutely secure, could be deadly in an emergency manuver/accident.

Honestly, bottle jacks are great. Test your toyota one, or go ahead and get a big one from summit racing if you like. A good bottle jack is indespensible imo.

They all rattle. I cured this by cutting three fir wedges that I push into the jack from the top on two adjacent sides and from the bottom. It works great and they pop out with little difficulty. FWIW, mine is mounted on my stock rack with a bracket I made from angle iron and coupled to Yakima 10v Mighty Mounts available on ebay. It sits to the side and is out of the way leaving my rack free for my roto-pax, surfboard, sand ladders, etc.

The rear hitch is a good hi lift point on our rigs. I also carry the hi-lift rim tool. It's very useful in situations where you're stuck. Can also be used on sliders or an aftermarket bumper. Bottom line is a hi-lift is not a replacement for a bottle jack. But if you're lifted make sure you have either a larger bottle jack or something to make the stock one effective
