Moving c clip on bilstien shocks

I resently got a pair of bilstien 5100's shocks and ome springs. Was waiting for the spring compresser to get here. Now that everything's here I want to put everything together. How would one go about moving the c clip, it sits on the lows setting I guess that's stock height. I have 3 setting would like to set it at the top witch is 2.5. Would I need a special tool? I looked thru some post but can't really find what I'm looking for.

I use snap ring pliers. Push the pins of them into the groove on the 5100 body, then open it slowly so it catches on both sides. Once it expands slightly, push the furthest point away downward/upward out of the groove and work your way around the ring (back towards where your pliers were seated) until it's fully seated into the channel above or below as you need to adjust.

I just have a $10 pair of snap ring pliers. Nothing too special.

What Bilsteins and what springs? If you set to clip 3 on the D558 with longer then stock springs you're gonna be way higher then stock.

2.5" lift with an 881, I'd go to the second or third perch drivers side, and one lower on passenger side for drivers lean compensation. Or second perch drivers and passenger with an OME 3/8" spacer on top of drivers strut. Wheelers sells them for like $15 per side.

99Runnr im kinda new to all this, why would i make the driver side higher? Ive never heard that before but like said I'm new to all this. Wouldn't want the front to be unlevel

The gas tank and the extra weight of the driver causes the driver's side to carry more weight. Thus many 4Runners of all vintages suffer the "driver's side lean". Most aftermarket kits accommodate this characteristic somehow. On Billies, the ride height adjustment ring is used.

I've never heard of anyone using the spring perches to compensate for lean. Your looking at 3/4" to an 1" difference in moving between a single perch on the D558's. Most springs have drivers side and passenger side specific springs to make up for lean. With ARB they use A and B. Eibach uses Driver and Passenger. One coil will be slightly longer then the other. You put that one on the drivers side. If both springs are the same height you use spacers.

OP, you should be close to 2.5" on the second perch of the D558's. I wouldn't go to the third. Doing that will pre-load the shit out of those springs and make the ride pretty harsh. There's tons of reading on this forum about lifts. Read it.

There is 5 perches on my Tundra 5100's, I don't know what 558 or whatever is, 4runner or Tacoma struts? If so, then second perch since you only have 3. I run my Tundra struts on the 3rd perch with a 3/8 spacer to safely clear 33's.

The OME 881 springs do not specify driver or passenger. So nothing to worry about there.

The D558 are the Taco Billies. I run the Eibach 620# springs and they are marked driver and passenger. My truck sits perfectly level with both struts on the same perch. I went up to perch 2 after adding my bumper and winch. Solid 3" of lift with my springs and bumper.

Are you sure there's no A/B on the 881's? Perhaps ARB only does that with the rear springs?

EDIT: Here's some light reading on the 881's.

I have 881s on my 4runner. I just tinkered with the perch tonight for them after doing LCA bushings before I get my next alignment. There is NO marker for side specific springs on this set. My 890's in the rear are marked A and B. I have nothing whatsoever on the front 881s.

I just installed them a few months ago new, so unless I got a faulty set, the tag's show nothing. I have a 3rz and plate bumper, so roughly the weight of a stock 3.4 front end. Adjusting my perches to make it sit level versus the drivers side bias. Sucks being meticulous lol.

I didn't know that there was a driver/passenger coil for the Eibach 620# springs. Are you referring to the Toytec 112-620 coils or to the Wheeler's Eibach T1 coils? If Toytec, are your springs from a new batch?

They're Toytec 112-620's from over a year ago. I just went out to my truck and looked. I can't find the side specific markings. I swear they where there for the front and rears. Maybe my memory just sucks?
