Moving to Atlanta

Hey guys - I've been on the forums for a couple years now, but I'm moving to Atlanta after graduation next month. I have a mostly stock runner and have never actually gone offroading. I'm looking to meet some people and go on some trips though! Anybody do trips in the area? Looking forward to a new city. Thanks!

Lots of beautiful country around Atlanta. All north and NE in my experience.
Ask anyone in Atlanta what they do for fun and they say go to Chattanooga, TN

Where abouts in Atlanta are you moving? I back and forth between Forsyth county and Marietta.

Lots and lots of forest service roads up in north Georgia. Check out georgiaoverland.com for list of forest service routes. There's also a good group of people over on Expedition Portal.

We'll have to get a ride together when you get down here.

Lived in ATL all of my life, been half way looking for a few trails myself. Henry County doesn't seem to have much... at least not the part of Henry I'm in.

Check out that website I mentioned! Looks like it's getting about that time to have another Atlanta meet and greet, and maybe do a little wheeling!

Yeah we haven't had a big meet in 2 years that I know of. We're gonna have to change that cause I need some people to wheel with.

Moving into Buckhead. Thanks for the link, looking forward to it!

Lots of national park service roads in North Georgia. I go up to Amicalola Falls service roads sometimes. There's a good 7-8 mile trail with a few offshoots which go deeper into more muddy terrain. Nothing super technical by any stretch of the imagination.

This video will give you an idea of the trails:

Dude, welcome to Ga. it is a fantastic state to live in with many places and things to do every weekend.

Atlanta can be a pain, I don't live there but we do come down every few months for a concert. I live in Ringgold, which is 10 miles south of Chattanooga on I-75.

I would be willing to come to a 4runner gathering. I would also be willing to allow my runner to be used in a timing belt replacement demonstration sometime in August. I'm due for one and it would definitely make a great hands on demonstration for those who are a little intimidated by the job.

You have many opportunities to get away from Atlanta for the day or weekend.
Hit me up for some places to go. Good luck in Atlanta.
