MP3 Disc Format

I have a 2006 4runner Sport and it comes with the type 1 stereo which has MP3/WAV capability but the only thing is that I have not been able to figure out what type of format I need the disc to be in order to scroll through the folders. I have made MP3 data discs with various folders but it won't scroll through them and if I let the disc run it will only run through the first folder. I really don;t know what the folder buttons are for because they prety much don't do anything when I put in an MP3 disc with folders. Does it make a difference if you close the cd session or not...I had a Sony Xplode in my last car and it played them fine.

You have to close the session and, if I remember what the owner's manual said correctely, you can have up to three folders deep. I made a disk but only have one folder per artist. It works fine. The thing I don't like about it is that the program I used is Nero and it put the songs in alphabetical order rather than track order. Hope this helps.

I always burn "disc at once" and finalize the disc, then there are no issues on any player.

Also, don't worry about folder names etc. The player will read the tags on all the tracks (artist, album, title) so the names of the folders themselves are somewhat irrelevent.

Well-known problem. Best workaround is to put the track number at the beginning of the file name. Be sure to use enough digits to make it work (if you use 1 folder per CD/album, then 2 digits is plenty).

I attempted to burn a MP3 cd with NTI CD/DVD Maker and was only able to play the songs in the first folder. I believe I had 4 or 5 folders on the cd. The folder up/down button does nothing. Is this an issue with the burning software, too many folders on the cd, or something else? Thanks
