hello everyone, i have a 98 4runner as well as my dad. we have the same exact engine tranny rear end pretty much everything. i put a cold air intake , 32 bfgoodrich all terrains and a 2' lift. his is all stock. he gets 17.5 i get 13 mpg. we do the same driving in fact he probably stops and goes more than me. cannot figure out why my mpg is so bad. any suggestions or experiences like this. please help. thank you

Did you think that would help your mileage?
age? total mileage? engine/drivetrain? trim? Clean maf? new plugs? frozen brake calipers? how is the filter on the CAI? heavy foot?

The tires and lift suck mpg out of vehicles. That is your problem.
but the thing is it cant make it that much more gutless and make it get 13 there got to be more than that. plus it was like this before the lift and tires. what are you getting with your lift and bfg all terrains

Clean the MAF, throttle body, and check your plugs and wires. Run a seafoam treatment through it before changing any plugs too. You may even try some additive to help clean out your fuel system.
I have 3"+ lift with 33s and get close to 17.5 mpg.
Have the 02 sensors ever been changed? I've seen a few instances where they can bring down the MPGs too.

^^^^ I agree. I was getting about 230/250 miles to the tank. Not long ago my truck would just out of no wear die! I finally ran the code and it was the AF sensor. After reading up on it here I soon had that fixed. Cleaned off the MAF Sensor also and put a new air filter in her. I'm now pulling almost 320/340 miles to a tank of gas. Not to bad. Amazing what a small hundred dollar part will do for our trucks. You can get it off amazon.
