It has been something I have been tossing around for a while now. I doubt it will happen. I like the 4Runner too much to let it go, but at the same time I really like the FJC's.

Well after months of searching I found the trailer I wanted to build for expo! It is a 1946 Bantam T3-C. A good friend arrived with it late last night from northern wisconsin. I bought it sight unseen and I am very glad I did because this thing is in great shape for over 60 years in WI. No real rot in the bed and the frame just has a little surface rust. These trailers when they were new were ~$160.00 from the Sears-Roebuck catalog, I paid $700 which is about average for an unrestored article.
I had to put it to try it out right away so I filled it up with my grandmothers broken gazebo and hauled it to the dump!
Well after my trip to the dump I found a couple things that needed to be mended straight off. The chains for the tow hooks were far too short and would not reach the loops on the 4Runner so I extended them.
Next I found that the tailgate was bolted shut and a hook was missing on one side. I replaced both the hooks and unbolted it and now its good to go!
I Also mocked up the 30# propane tank that I picked up for it the other day off of craigslist. I don't know if I want it there or in the bed and have a tongue box with a battery in it.
Next step will to be strip it, paint it, and then do an axel flip.

Well I started to strip the paint and rust off the trailer today. It went well for the most part, I only founds some minor pitting. Tomorrow I should finish stripping the rest of the trailer then it will be time to fill all these holes someone drilled into this thing.

It's not too bad, I got the tongue, floor pan and some of the side stripped yesterday in about 2 hours. I would be dicking around with a sandblaster getting it all set up for longer that lol. today I can use my 80 grit flap wheel because there is no rust now just paint so it should go even faster then lol.

That would have been a perfect case for either getting a sandblaster and doing it yourself or just paying someone to sandblast it. At least you have it done now. Can't wait to see what the trailer build looks like.

I would have, but I really didn't want to spend more money than I had to because I have to pay for school. So a wire wheel handled it well. Painting comes today hopefully!
