Mud Flap Delete?

"...Did all 4runners have mud flaps? I've called the local dealer, and well, they didn't know...

I don't mind replacing the one that, umm, "fell off" but I don't think this will be an isolated incident with my driving "style"..."

Most people that opt to go 'off-road' usually strive for MORE chassis height, not less. Adding mudgards will "help" to keep the splash-panels clean but that's about it. I'm using factory mudguards on the 'Mall Crawler' to help protect the fenders from sand, pebbles, salt... but I still damaged one of my mudguards, just backing up into a small snow bank last winter; 'tis an occupational hazard. Most 4R's don't come with 'Running boards' or 'mudguards'; they're optional! So there should be no problem driving around w/o them. But if you're planning to go off-roading from time to time, then you may need more height to go where you like to go! Remember... "an ounce of prevention..." Rgds!

I trimmed mine off and kept the part that covers up the big hole. I bet you could buy a universal flat mud flap and trim it to fit.

I did it last weekend. And it only cost me my time. Just studied the body lines and mudflap lines and determined the best place to cut. I removed them and put them on my work bench. I used a razor knife and straight edge and made a trace cut and then a final cut. The only watch out is the bottom edge if you want to maintain the same bottom attachment method. It is not a fatal error if you cut too high.

I think they changed the wheel well area on the 2014's and up. I don't think the parts are interchangable, but I could be wrong.

I'd bet it's pretty close if not exactly the same at least shape wise, the reason I say that is when I put on the trail rockers I also did the 2014 front trim piece and mud flaps on the front and most of the holes lined up. It is possible Toyota changed the rear wheel well and bumper area...

OP here is probably the best place to look if you wanted to try to find that filler piece. Sometimes you can tell if a part is interchangeable once you find the part number...

It is a silly thread.
When I said my mudflap fell off, I mean it fell off. Missing. Gone. Don't have it to trim or reattach.
Then I thought, hey, maybe go ask the question because I didn't have the answer and couldn't find it with the search tool. I thought, hey, maybe someone else has already run into this and they could give me some advice.

You see, when something breaks or falls off, I would rather fix it stronger or leave it off if practical. Because, that's what I do. I try to make my off road vehicles better for, well, off roading. I always forget that the vast majority of 4x4 owners don't know how to use the 4x4, and are mainly keyboard warriors.

Although, if you place me into the category of "4x4 owners who don't know how to use the 4x4, and are mainly keyboard warriors" you will.....be......WRONG!!! That's because I drive a 4x2! (zealots should stop reading right now and immediately block all future posts from this heathen). Granted, the term "silly" may be misunderstood and only relevant to people old enough, or "seasoned" enough, to recall old Monty Python shows with fond thoughts. I used that term because the answer to your inquiry was so painfully obvious, yet it generated responses such as "cut a four ring binder to fit." I guess a silly question demands a silly answer. No harm. If somebody can't stomach their thread being referred to by such a benign reference, perhaps the internet is not the best place to be. :cheers: to you.

I ordered a replacement this time, but I'm already working on some delete panels that I can use for the next time it happens.... lol

Also, I found the perfect material to make them out of....

It's a defective/damaged bumper cover that was to be scrapped.
At the best price point, Free!!!
(I know not everyone has access to this solution)

The sides should be big enough to make a really nice flap delete panel in the future!
