Mud tires vs. MPG

Do mud tires affect gas mileage that much?

I am not sure if its the coincidence of needing to clean my air filter and the possible need of a tune up, but I am seeing a loss of roughly 2mpg since the installation of my Goodyear MTRs.

I am not complaining and I really don't care that much. I am just wondering if its normal.

I would doubt it, especially with the V8. I would guess its more of the winter blend of gas they threw at us. Mine dropped in the last few months, and I've noticed more and more people complain about it recently.

They are most likely heavier than the tires they replaced, so a loss is expected. Are they the same size as your previous tires? Are you manually calculating or going by the dash readout?

Correct. Taller tires will throw the speedo and odo off (unless you regeared) so your calculations would be off.

They are the same size as the tires that I replaced, and I calculate the mileage. That dash computer is a joke.
