Muffler... Ohhhpinions?

Not interested in investing in a full blown exhaust system at this point but would like to create a different sound from the 4runner. That said, I've done a ton of research on which muffler to go with. I was dead set on Borla but then shifted focus to Flowmaster and now the muffler dude at the shop said for the V6 4runner, he'd recommend Magnaflow since they have a lifetime warranty on all of their mufflers vs. the Flowmaster only having it on the SS versions.

Now I'm overthinking it. I obviously don't want it to sound ricer wizzy, I don't rev the engine, I'm a pretty conservative driver, but I would like the rumble and wouldn't mind knowing that it's there. I don't mind a louder ride but don't want to get annoyed with it on the road either.

Mufflers I've looked at extensively:

Borla XR-1 40942 (seems like it drones a bit much at 60)
Borla XR-1 40941
Flowmaster 50 series DF (seemed too quiet for me)
Flowmaster Super 44 (maybe too loud??)
Flowmaster 40 series

I will begin researching more on Magnaflow tonight but so far I'm unimpressed. I know a majority will rule with personal preference but I'm still interested in any opinions or insight I may be missing here? I've been all over the boards as much as I could be and looked on Youtube for soundbytes. Input?

Still waiting to weld mine in, but I've got a borla pro-xs. Borla? can't go wrong, IMHO. Flowmasters have had bad reviews as well as magnaflow. It's up to you in the end, but Flowmaster 44's are LOUD, and 40's are pretty loud, too.
 
Flowmaster super 70ii made for big block suv , mines been good , about same dimensions as oem but it oval & fits up snug 2.5 n an out like oem , def not ricey mellow at idle , healthy on acceleration IMO.
 
Thanks for the video! From what i saw, you made a great choice! But yes I'm also curious, which muffler part number?
 
I also vote for the magnaflow, little to no drone on the freeway, but definitely noticeable when you get on the gas a bit.
 
I have the flowmaster super44, it's loud. Louder than the magnaflow cutback. Borla makes a good muffler too, xr1 is the loudest I think.
 
Can anyone shed some light on the difference of sound with the Magnaflow XL vs. The universal muffler?

I get the xl is chambered, but would the sound be much different? Can't seem to find a video for the XL on a runner.

Have you tried searching the XL muffler on a tacoma? It will sound very similar to what a 4Runner will sound like, 4.0 V6. That's what I did when I was searching exhausts for me. If I couldn't find it on a runner, I looked for one that was on a taco.
