Just wondering what some of you guys are running... Looking into getting a muffler with a nice aggressive sound. I have the V6 used to run a flowmaster 40 on my V8 trucks but wanted to know the best option as far as V6. *Not looking for cat back exhaust just looking for muffler* if you guys could provide some links of the options thatd be great! Thanks really appreciate any input!

I have the V8 but... I have the super 40 on mine with the resonator cut off. Plenty aggressive outside. Just enough rumble inside to know its there when you step on it, but almost stock quiet at cruising speed.

Got a friend at work with a 2009 Tacoma 4.0 v6 ... So same motor ... Has a flowmaster 10 series has a little drone but sounds fantastic for a v6, really throaty! I'd go as far to say it sounds pretty friggin close to a v8!

Dynomax and magnaflow are another options for you. Check out some youtube vids for the sound of these mufflers on a v6.

if you want sound , super44 is a deeper louder tone. for some performance do something else, i swapped out to a borla exhaust and i like the quieter tone.

I know this post is a little dated, Im a noob so hopefully someone sees this and is able to answer.
I have a '05 4.0 v6 and am going back and forth between flowmaster super 10 or their 40 series. Along with cutting out the rear resonator and have the pipe dump straight down.
Couple things I want to confirm. But first, I'd like your opinion between those two mufflers.

1. Can some one confirm that the muffler is 2.5" center in and 2.5" offset out?
2. Would it be beneficial to also cutting out the cat? Pros and cons of doing that. (Not worried about emission tests as I live where there's no restriction
3. Would I benefit from changing the whole pipe to 3"?

THANK YOU

I had the Flowmaster super 10 on my truck for a few months. It's definitely loud and sounds pretty aggressive. I liked the sound, but I ended up installing URD's mk3 3" cat back system this past weekend. I will be installing their Y pipe with no cats and possibly headers with no cats, and I didn't want it even louder than just the super 10.

1. Yes it's 2.5 center in, 2.5 offset out. I ordered this one.
2. Which Cats? There are four of them. One on each of the manifolds, and two (one on each branch) on the Y pipe. You will definitely free up the exhaust flow eliminating cats, but I'd recomend replacing the y pipe and/or headers instead of cutting them out and slapping extra pipe in their place.
3. I think so (?)
