What is the in/out size for a 4th gen? I'm lookin' at buying either a magnaflow or flowmaster off ebay and getting the shop to put it in for me.

While I can't help with the question at hand, I will comment on the quality of MagnaFlow. I have a MagnaFlow muffler on my F250 and it sounds very nice. Not harsh or irritating - just mellow and deep, and when cruising at highway speed it disappears unless I'm towing. It's great.

Some say 2.25" and others say 2.5"? Will it really make a difference since you just weld it on there.

If you go smaller it restricts exhaust flow, but I'm sure there is more resistance in the factory tubing somewhere. Since factory is not mandrel bent tubing.

Check this thread out: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=49965&highlight=flowmaster+series

You want the 2.5" piping along with a Center inlet/Offset outlet (just like our stock muffler). Hope this helps!

Also, like mentioned in the link above, you'll need some extra pipe bc the flowmasters (not sure about the magnaflow's) tend to be a little shorter than our stock mufflers. I'd be really surprised if Toyota decided to change the sizing of the pipe, and inlet/outlet design, between the '03-'05 - so you should be good to go with that info.
