Is anyone outraged by this? If you haven't heard, here is an excerpt from Democracy Now! about the what transpired when an innocent kid walking home was gunned down by the neighborhood wannabe cop.

Regardless of what the kid did to him, he was the first aggressor as the 911 tapes show. Second, the fat ass Zimmerman isn't a cop so he shouldn't have gone up to him at all.

If I was walking home and some random dude came up and tried to accost me, I would fight back as well.

Apparently, Florida has a stand your ground law regarding fights, which the NRA pushed for, however I don't think that means you can start a fight knowing you have a gun and plan on using it. Especially a fight you would have lost. Using that same argument, I should be allowed to go outside tonight and walk up to the biggest mofo I can find and start a fight with him and then shoot him.

Shouldn't this guy me charged with second degree murder? Or am I missing something?

911 Tapes Released from Trayvon Martin Shooting in Florida

Police in Sanford, Florida, have released a series of 911 tapes from the night an unarmed black teenager, Trayvon Martin, was shot to death by a self-appointed neighborhood watch captain. The case has caused widespread allegations of racial targeting. Seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin was visiting his father at a gated community on February 26 when he walked out to a nearby convenience store to buy Skittles and Arizona iced tea. On his way back, he was spotted by the shooter, George Zimmerman, who had been patrolling the neighborhood after a series of break-ins. In one 911 call, Zimmerman can be heard pursuing Martin.

This is a clip from Zimmerman’s 911 call.

George Zimmerman: "This guy looks like he’s up to no good or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining, and he’s just walking around, looking about."
Dispatcher: "OK. And this guy, is he white, black or Hispanic?"
Zimmerman: "He looks black."
Dispatcher: "Did you see what he was wearing?"
Zimmerman: "Yeah, a dark hoodie, like a grey hoodie, and either jeans or sweatpants and white tennis shoes."
Dispatcher: "Are you following him?"
Zimmerman: "Yeah."
Dipatcher: "OK, we don’t need you to do that."

The Miami Herald reports Zimmerman had taken it upon himself to patrol the neighborhood and had called police 46 times since January 2011 to report suspicious activity or other incidents. Police have refused to arrest Zimmerman, saying they can find no evidence to contradict the claim he acted in self-defense. But frantic screaming can be heard in the background of another 911 tape, leading the family to believe Trayvon Martin pleaded for help before he was shot. The police have said they believe it was Zimmerman calling for help. Listen closely.

Dispatcher: "OK. And is it a male or female?”
Caller: "It sounds like a male."
Dispatcher: "And you don’t know why?"
Caller: "I don’t know why. I think they’re yelling 'help,' but I don’t know. Just send someone quick."
Dispatcher: "OK. Does he look hurt to you?"
Caller: "I can’t see him. I don’t want to go out there. I don’t know what’s going on."
Dispatcher: "Do you think he’s yelling 'help'?"
Caller: "Yes."
Dispatcher: "All right, what is your [gunshot heard] number?"
Caller: "Just, there’s gunshots."

Florida college students are scheduled to hold a protest today outside the Seminole County criminal courts to call for Zimmerman’s arrest. Trayvon Martin’s parents are calling for the FBI to investigate the killing.

If you haven't heard, here is an excerpt from Democracy Now!

Glad to have turned you back onto them. Amy Goodman is one of the few pro journalists left. I listen to the daily audio podcast.

About the murder ... based on what little evidence has been released it sounds like murder or manslaughter to me.

The FBI announced this afternoon that they have opened an investigation into the killing.

It's Federal now.

I hope he can explain himself or else he is going to jail for a long long time.........or worse. It does sound like he was the aggressor. Time will tell.

Now they are talking about figuring out who is yelling for help in the 911 tapes. Maybe I don't understand the law in FL, however in OH, if you START a fight and then get you ass tagged, tough beans. If fat ass walked up to Travyon and started a fight with him, and then got beat up, whaaaaaaa. Go eat another donut fat ****.

Exactly. You can't instigate fights and then shoot a gun when you end up getting your a** whooped. That is not self defense! That is being a p****. He needs to be in jail, period.

I saw this story on the news the other day.

The cop wannabe needs put down, preferably slowly and with much pain.

I know very little details other than headlines regarding this particular case. As I understand it, the stand your ground law has nothing to do with it. The neighborhood watch captain started the confrontation on a hunch (we know nothing about his training, but can assume he did not have the credentials) - regardless of whether or not he was or thought he was in the right. At that point, he should have relied on law enforcement because the situation had exceeded his capabilities and legal rights. The dispatcher even told him to stop following the victim.

I think there is a whole lot of the story we haven't heard yet, but it does sound like racial profiling and or a citizen over stepping their boundaries at the very least. Unfortunately it ended with a dead teenager who by all reports at this point was most likely innocent.

agreed, i just hope they keep the law in place this guy is trying to hide behind though, it's a good law, i just hope people are smart enough to figure out this guy is full of **** and is trying to use a good law to get away with bull ****...
string this guy up, following the kid around and then confronting him has nothing to do with the law this punk is trying to hide behind, if anything the kid would have been justified in shooting this ******* imo, if your scared for your life or bodily harm you run away and not towards the threat, the kid was running away and the douche bag was running towards, it's very black and white imo. **** this guy and **** him doubly so for being a bigot

Could a moderator fix the thread title please??

Also, this is ****ed up..

Yeah, he is a piece of garbage. I don't really have a problem with the stand your ground law as long as it isn't used as a vice in case like this.

Even if Travyon had a gun, it shouldn't matter fatass isn't a cop and can't use deadly force on people.

He started it. His butthole should pay for it.

Here is the audio cleaned up and on repeat. Even though I hate the stupid ****, I think he is saying punks.

Caught on Tape: Guy Who Shot Black Teen Calls Him "Coon" on 911 Tape - Rover's Morning Glory

You guys?

I don't understand HOW THEY HAVENT ARRESTED HIM. And I am not usually one to use all caps. But seriously, he is the self admitted first aggressor in the 911 tapes. The FBI should be investigating the case and the DOJ should be investigating the Sampson Police Department.

I hope he gets creamed in prison too.

What sucks though is that there is no punishment that can make up for a random kid walking and getting killed.

Slow down. Aren't we getting a little jumpy having only heard one side of the story? Innocent until proven guilty, right? I havent heard all of the facts, but what i have read leads me to my previous statement. That said, the DA likely hasn't charged Z for a reason and an arrest hasn't been made for a reason I'd say as well. I really don't know what those reasons could be though - unless there's more going on than we currently know, like deeper issues with the police force or other potentially illegal conditions.

It may likely be that Z is as guilty as I am sexy (thats a fvcking ton by the way), but we haven't heard ANY of his words post incident yet, which we need to hear before we can accurately determine his guilt or innocence as he is the only living witness.

They need to say the reason.

I am entitled to MY opinion. I am not the DA. I said he should get creamed in his ass and I stand by that. MY opinion. Not the DA's or anyone else.

But like I said, if there is a reason, they need to say. But, I really doubt there is a reason based on the 911 tapes. If there is they have done the worst PR job for their police department/county, ever.

I am not saying he shouldn't get a fair trial by any means. Like I said I feel that he is a ragging piece of dog **** and should have to watch his mom get bukkaked by 12 elephants. But I still want him to have a fair trial.

I don't think we disagree in principle, but the devils in the details. Stating a reason now could compromise their case or be misconstrued. It's in the states best interest to not give details of their evidence as of yet, just like it is in the best interest of the victim to talk up a storm. That gets the public involved (with only 1/2 the story in this particular case) to predetermine guilt or innocence, and soils the jury pool.

Just think of how many in this thread have determined whether or not he's guilty. No offense to anyone, but we've only heard the victims side of the story and some (albeit incriminating) 911 tapes. We've yet to hear Zs commentary.

What other side of the story could there be? Unarmed kid packing a king size bag of skittles gets chased ,confronted, beat up,shot and killed ...all the while his attacker is muttering racial slurs while on the phone with officials who are telling him not to pursue and the police will handle it. Look at the photos of these two do you think that 28 year old armed man was afraid of this 17 year old kid ? He didn't sound fearful in the phone conversations, he didn't flee, seek cover, help or any sort of assistance other then simply notifying police of his plans.

This guy saw too many YouTube vids of gas station attendants taking out robbers and thought he could do this as well. What he doesn't understand is these people on YouTube were unsuspecting and confronted with conflict unaware, big difference then guessing someone might be a robber following them around for a bit , come up with a plan , confront the suspected robber, beat him up and shoot him ........its a fubar situation, and regardless of what he says muttering racial slurs to an official during all of this makes you a total bigot no way round that , you think that alone would cause the da to scrutinize the case a bit more closely and if i was a cop i would lock him up for the 48,72 or how ever long you can without charging him just to teach him a lesson for being an bigot.

Either way the way i read that law it said nothing about pursuing said threat for a number of minutes and then confronting said threat was ok.

I think you just want to argue about everything. I don't.
