My 03' Build Thread

i have heard that if you leave it in 2wd for a while that it wont engage in 4wd but i think that is because some ppl never used 4wd for a few years. True, on the test drive confirm that it goes in and out of 4h and 4lo.and you can run a V6 in full time 4wd correct? It's full-time 4wd (4lo or 4hi) until you lock the center-differential with the button to the left of the steering wheel.so thats the latest update for anyone who cares haha. thanks! :D That should be fun! You've got your current fixed up pretty good. Will you have a few days of overlap when the time comes?

IMHO your current Runner will be worth more stock and all your parts will go on the new one.:bigok:

thanks! what do u mean by a few days of overlap? that i will have the new one and old one at the same time? if so then im not sure yet. will have to wait and see.

as for taking all the stuff outta my old one idk cause i have alfready sold the system and i think i will jsut leave the lift on cause i have been eying the toytec ultimate since day one of my obsession haha. also do you know how good of gas mileage i would get if i got a V6 an left it in full 4wd all the time? would it be better then a V8? thanks!

I understand:lol:also do you know how good of gas mileage i would get if i got a V6 an left it in full 4wd all the time? Based on what the V8 guys say I'd say not much difference, .5mpg maybe. If you were driving slow a lot and idling a good bit the difference would favor the V6 more. For the V6 to get solidly ahead of the V8 you have use 2wd is my guess. would it be better then a V8? thanks!

okay thanks. if you were to total your 4runner lets say... of course you would be okay :) but you were going to get a new one would you get the V6 again or go V8?

okay well change in plans as plans always never work out. but here it is.... my dad has decided on buying a tacoma, which is going to be sweet. but im going to build the 4runner into a real pre runner. just purchased medic's old SAW 2.0's then im planning on rear toytec super flex's with bilsteins or pro comps cause im cheap haha then spider trax and im thinking 295/75/16 nitto terra grapplers or 315/75/16 just to try something different. maybe a 1 inch BL but idk yet im talking before i get the money. haha. let me know what yall think

alright im going to start a new thread when i get my coil overs cause this has too much junk in the mix. cheers

I'd do the V8 again. I had a 2005 V6 SR5 and traded it in for the 2007 V8 SE mainly because we wanted to buy a camper trailer that exceeded the towing cap of the V6. Having put 50K miles on the V6 before trade-in, and having just crossed the 73K mark on the V8 SE, which I bought brand new, I prefer the power and smoothness of the V8.

did a while ago just never updated this thread. still trying to sell it

it should still be on there. search 2003 4runner. and yea i was gonna trade for an 04 silverado but found out it didnt have power windows or locks and the seat was torn. just didnt seem like a good trade to me after finding that out. i have ppl all the time come up to me when its parked or even driving down woodruff road and ask about it but still no luck. ill prob get a tundra or tacoma if i can ever sell it. i think its reasonbly priced at 11500. excellent kbb is 12500 and i got 4k in it.

Good luck.

I'm kind of half way looking for a Mustang.

i was offered to trade for a really nice 00' GT 5 speed with a new paint job and 101k miles. had nice wheels 18x10 in the rear 18x9 in the front with a cai and some other small mods like flowmasters and that sort of stuff but i want a truck so i had to turn him down.
