my 2014 4runner Tint, thoughts and advice

I did 3M FX Premium @ 15% and it matches the rears perfectly and there is no "green" visible whatsoever.

I have FormulaOne Pinnacle 35 on the front of mine and Llumar Air90 on the rest. The difference doesn't seem as dramatic as yours but there is a green hue to the front for sure. The front windows are factory tinted with green in the glass mixture so I'm not sure you are going to be able to rid yourself of the green tint from the inside. When I look at mine from the outside I do not see the difference.

Sure. Will have to be tomorrow when the sun is out, it's overcast this afternoon and will not produce good quality pics.

I am a perfectionist and I can assure you there is NO green hue. In fact, when I had Mile-High Tint do them I specifically said I do not want any green hue.

He went through multiple brands of film and tints and samples. We probably spent 1/2 hour in my driveway finding the right tint. 3M FX 15% was it.

If you have a tint shop nearby that carries 3M go throw an FX 15% sample on the window, you will see what I mean. But yes, I'll shoot some pics in the sun.

Edit: Just looked at your pic again. Mine definitely does not have that issue. If you look out from the back seat or front seat, the tint looks exactly the same. No green hue whatsoever.

hrmm I will have to check it out. My toyota dealership also uses Global Films. They said they dont have any issues with green hues.

Come to find out on tint forums that our windows have a yellowish hue, and formula one has a blueish hue. Yellow + blue = green....:cry2::cry2:

The problem you are going to have is that if you throw any tint on an already tinted window (not the factory but film) for comparison it's not going to be true.

I would not mislead you. Find a good tint shop in St. Louis that carries 3M (I am sure there are some), take it in and tell them to strip off that junk you have and do 3M FX Premium 15%.

You will not be disappointed.

oh yah - def would not throw another layer of tint on top of my just layer tint. Def will have it stripped.

I am just trying to do a little more research between 3M and Global Films. It just sucks cuz I put ceramic tint on and will most likely have to go away from that for the front two windows.

Did the fronts on my 5th gen and it came out a different tint that the stock privacy glass... Just going to tint over the rears and darken it all same as the fronts should take care of my issue

I went with 3M Crystaline all around. 50% in front windshield. 50% on driver and passenger fronts. 20% on all rear windows. Going to change the from driver and passenger to 20% soon.

I just had mine done with Formula One 15% all the way around and Llumar Air Blue 80% on the windshield.

I had a couple of PMs asking for interior shots.


Outside on an overcast day.

Windows half way down.

50% 3M Crystaline on entire front windshield and driver/ passenger front windows.

All rear windows were tinted in 20% 3M Crystaline over the factory tint.

Recently updated to 20% on the driver/passenger front. Happy with the results.

I did 5% cargo area windows and I think 20% back doors with 30% up front. I’ve always gone for darker tints. Enjoy the privacy and look.

You guys are doing 50% on the windshield?? I drive too many dark mountain roads for that sort of thing. And obviously my polarized sunglasses would have to go....the cops in Colorado are pretty lax about window tint but I don't think I'd get away with a dark windshield anyhow.

If you are tinting because you want to keep the heat out, then ceramic film is the way to go. It is miles above regular metal tint. I had ceramic tint all the way around on my M37, including the windshield (no tint to it, just kept UVA/UVB rays out). The rest was at about 35%, but the difference in the temp in the car was extremely noticeable.

If you live in a hot climate in the summer, I highly suggest getting the ceramic tint on the windshield, at the very least.
