My 2018 SR5 Premium upholstery

Does anyone know how the leather holds up over time?? Since I don't have the limited, I have the premium and it has I think black and gray sinthetic leather seats... not genuine leather

3 years later still looks like new. That’s with two kids under 6, car seats, a dog...etc. All i’ve ever needed to clean it is a damp microfiber towel.

I feel like this is still too recent to answer properly. It takes a good ten years to get consistent wear examples. For example, you can see by now that the average third gen leather seat is torn to shreds if it was not conditioned every year. Back in say 2002, they all still looked fairly good.

I have a 2010 (so about 8 years old) SR5 premium with about 95,000 miles on it. My seats still look fantastic. I’m the second owner so I don’t know how the first owner cared for them, but I condition my seats every few months as I see it needs it. My seats really look great. I’ll grab a picture to post.

For reference, I’m an athletic 195 pounds.

Huh. I actually believe them to be real leather but now you have me second guessing. I don’t know what Toyota did. I’ve been fooled before by synthetic leather so I don’t know.

in my 2015, SR5P, they still look new. Key is keeping them conditioned and protected against the sun. I have a custom windshield cover and i tinted the front windows

I have 2 GM vehicles both leather seats . 22yrs old and 18yrs old. I use leather conditioner .. also if dirty use leather cleaner.. on Toyota is it cow leather ??? anyway these 2 GM vehicles the seat look great .. have some finish cracks but the leather is not at all damaged.. leather conditioner is like putting hand lotion on your skin..............


leather steering wheels look like new.

you use the wrong cleaner its gonna fail..

I condition mine with Adams Leather Conditioner every so often. Our "leather" looks and feels great! The leather conditioner is anti static and has UV protection so I put it on the dash and plastic too.

Are you referring to SoftTex?

That's what I have in my '16 TP and I just wipe them down occasionally with Armorall leather conditioner.

I have 2-3 kids all under 6 back there at any given time. I just wipe mine down with a wet rag and I also use Meguiars cleaning wipes for UV protectant and all that jazz.
The Softex is supposed to be the shiznit and never crack or wear down. Supposed to outlast leather.

I have 2018 SR5 premium with the softex seats also. Supposedly Mercedes used a similar material for many years with great results.

"SofTex® is a synthetic leather seat material designed for wear, easy cleaning and resisting spills. Soft to the touch, SofTex weighs about half as much as genuine leather. The way it's made generates around 85% fewer CO2 emissions and 99% fewer Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) than conventional synthetic leather."
