My 3rd Gen TRD/LC Lift

ive always loved the look of 5 stars with 33s. looks good bro

any bodylift at all or just straight suspension only?

i didnt rub even with 01 coils and 2.5 spacers when i trimed my pinch, but now im level and 2 inchs of bodylift i could prob throw 315s on without much trouble at all.
 
No body lift. Wont do it since I really dont need it.

Its staying this height. the Trail Gear sliders will be on tomorrow then its getting a LockRight in February before our run to Crozet. Hopefully a full Bud Built Skid setup by Harlan in March.

After all that is done im gonna start on a 1st gen pickup as my trail beater.
 
Sounds good man. yeah that will be one tough daily driver.

mine isnt exactly being built just for crawling, more so of an expedition vehicle for basecamp for my photography expedentures out west as soon as I transfer to CSU (colorado state)

dude Ive had my trailgear sliders in a garage for 7 months now and still havent gotten the time to put em on.. this weeked may change though hopefully
 
No...its not connected. I have a broken bolt on an axle mount and stripped threads on the drivers end link so I just took it off. Its not that noticible on the road.

New update: My LockRight is in the mail and should go in within the next few weeks.

I just got off the phone with Bud @ Budbuilt. Great guy and I reccomend doing business with him any time. He was extremely accomodating.

I told him that I was going to be at UNBREAKABLE FAB (a NCTTORA member's shop) on Sunday for a meet/bumper building day. Well turns out that Justin @ UNBREAKABLE will be buying the metal for the bumpers from Bud so he will be there Saturday afternoon (Tomorrow) to wrench and drop everything off, including my new BUDBUILT Full Belly System. No cash up front or anything, just said to pay when I get to the shop. Great standup guy with a killer product.
 
Is that a skid plate kit for underneath? I think I've seen those posted here before. Kick ass mod for sure, if I had the cash I would definitely pick it up. Post pics and let us know how install was.

Yes. Its the full IFS and Belly Skid system from Bud. Its already waiting for me at my buddy's shop for our build/wrench/meet on Sunday.

i have the full belly plates, they are SO awesome.

i have beat the crap out of them and they still hold up well!

mine are a little bit skewed now, but if i take em off and just hammer the crap out of them im sure theyll go straight again.

they are absolutely awesome.
 
How does it run at highway speed with the lift on, have you noticed any unusual vibes?

Wicked smooth on the highway. I havent done a diff drop yet and dont have any unusual vibrations that would be caused by a lift. My CV angle isnt off that bad at all. I am probably going to install it but for now its ok.
 
Well Bud from BUDBUILT dropped my skids off last weekend but I just got to putting them on today after a visit to Bud's shop. He definately has a great shop and is producing a ton of the FJ Cruiser skids. There were about 8 sets in boxes and another 6 or so sitting on the workbenches getting ready for packaging.

As for the install it was really smooth. Needed an impact wrench to get the steering rack bolt off for the crossbracket on the IFS skid. Other than that it just took a little muscle to get the skids into place under the truck and a little time with a file to make the steering rack bracket fit properly. We had about 4 people holding and pressing the skids into place but a floor jack will work just as well if you dont have a shop or a bunch of guys around wrenching at the time.

LockRight is here and should be going in soon. Then its time to test it all out.
 
Went to Crozet, VA this weekend with the NCTTORA crew and some of the CNC4x4 guys. I had planned on this being the "light" break in run but It was going so well that I just went all out. Tried a bunch of stuff I never thought this 4runner would make. The LockRight made a huge difference. I did realize though that with wheelin season picking up, I cant wheel this every time the way I did in VA. Too many close calls for a DD. I will still wheel this but its already exceeded my expectations. Time to build my 1st Gen Pickup.

Yeah im running the LC Coils with no bumpstop extentions (been too lazy to fab em up) and no sway bar so it articulates a bunch
 
Nice pics, those tracks look like fun. Very gentlemenly of you to keep that yellow tow strap pre-connected to pull the others out of trouble too. :p
Do you have sway bar disconnects or just are they just completely removed?
 
The swaybar is completely gone. One end link bolt and one axle mount bolt was broken or stripped when I pulled the suspension apart to install the coils and shocks...There is very little difference in on road manners.

I'm doing this setup. Wondering where to get top out spacer for the trd tundra coils. Do I use Tundra top-outs or will the 4runner top-outs work? Anyone with this front setup please chime in. Thank you.

You would use the 4Runner top hat with this spacer kit.
